Seems a lot for your money.hot.

Keep contemplating building my own and have acouple of bits ready but at these prices for a complete setup I'm wondering if it's worth it. Heat added.

Not much different from This computer but it does have a hybrid drive which is a little faster

of course a console killer. its twice the price of a xbox one and ps4. Then you'll need a keyboard and mouse. A monitor. a chair. desk. much more then a console. I'd prefer to get a console rather then spend over £800 getting a pc setup.

Hot. But it looks horrible

About the same as This PC but does have a better hard drive :). Hot!

don't forget this one has 8gb of ram @ 2400mhz

Desk, chair, keyboard and mouse don't need to cost that much.

and as far as I can see it does not come with Windows 8 operating system. in fact it states no operating system.

You also need a TV for a console so you can't really throw in a monitor as extra expense. A PC can also do a heck of a lot more than just play games.

I know the feeling. I just built a similar system but with an i5 4690k, R5 case and an RM 650w power supply. it set me back about £790.00. so at this price this is a deal.

I see your point. But it does also say under 'operating system' "windows 8.1 64-bit and Recovery Partition, Full Operating System is included."

You also spend up to about 2 times the price on games for a PS4/Xbox on a new release and always more than the equivalent one on a PC. You can get a similar gaming experience on slower PC hardware easily, the OP did state console 'killer' as in better than, rather than console match.

You also forgot the following accessories for the console
- the sofa to play the console from
- A TV unit to stand the tv on
- The TV (you decided to include the monitor for comparison and my PS4 didn't come with a TV or at least no DLC option)
- Playstation plus or Xbox Live

Funny enough anyone can list additional things pointlessly, it still does not detract from the OP original comment about the performance on offer for the price. This is easily able to manage full HD at ~60fps on maximum detail for many top tier games something that both the PS4 and Xbox struggle to do in some games despite the fanfare at both consoles announcements that these systems would usher in a new era of gaming. The 970 will also manage 2k in many games with a decent frame rate and a small number of games at 4k. All of which the PS4 and XBox will never manage to do

Don't get me wrong, I have a PS4 but that's more for the pick up and play element about it and exclusives that I want to play like Uncharted and TLOU. However to suggest a console is cheaper than a PC and then tout all the extra things a PC will need is a bit disingenuous as the console is similarly barebones. If you want to counter that people already have a TV, then I offer the option of plugging the PC in to the TV like many people like me already do with HTPC machines and thus negate the issue of needing one.

Additionally, using a console for things like web browsing is a deeply unpleasant experience. On a PC you get a much better experience with this plus the added facility that you can make many modifications to the look of it along with you can make to the feel of it. You also get access to all of the on demand features available on consoles but with the option to add many more lesser known ones and even more social options with a desktop.

On the other side of the savings coin, PC games are generally much cheaper, there are many sites offering bundles of many games, free online play, customisation of many games through mods and many older games often have fan bases that update them.

I've picked up a hell of a lot more games recently for less than the cost of the half dozen or so PS4 games I've picked up so far.

I think specs are a little mixed up here,

1. Operating system, states it doesn't include one but says it includes a Windows 8.14 recovery disk comes with it.
2. PSU, states that it is a Corsair VS650 but in the description at the bottom it says Cooler Master.

Anymore problems?

Think I'll hold out for abit, my current system isn't that bad but got the bug for upgrades or fresh build X)

Was thinking a Sabertooth mobo (£140ish), 970 (£250), 8GB ram so already upto roughly £450 when for £600 this comes pretty much sorted.

Current setup is AMD with a FX-8350 and SLi 660's so still capable but always after more!

absolutely dude. You've got a decent rig there. I just had to upgrade. I was running an AMD phenom XII @3.1 GHz and a AMD 5770 GPU. Built it back in 2010 but it still played some games better than a PS4. My next build will take place somwhere in 2020.... and it'll still out-perform the next gen consoles from sony and MS.

Sure but on PC you don't pay for online and the games are significantly cheaper. It's also a PC which can do so much more than game. At the start the console may seem cheaper, but over time you start to realise how expensive in comparison to PC it really is.

As an arbiter of justice I would just like to give my two-pence on 'furniture-gate'.

The assumption is that you already have a TV. If you currently use a laptop, a Mac, a tablet or nothing then you do need to buy a monitor, keyboard and mouse (and possibly somewhere to mount it all depending upon your circumstances).

My work here is done (smoke bomb and disappear)

I suppose it does look bland, but preferable to the childish monster looking cases I've seen. Hey, I don't do games.

This is a very good price. You can't build this yourself as cheap as this.

So I presume you're taking in to account your TV, TV stand, couch, etc?

None of those come free with a console.

Looks very nicely specced.

difficult, i think spend £50-£150 more and build better system with full size MD better i5K cpu better cooler gtx 950 and maybe 16GB ram

When you can build a PC with equivalent or superior performance to a console, and for equal or less money than a console, then it will be a console killer.

The above PC will indeed murder a PS4/XO for gaming graphics and functionality, but will "little Jonny" want one for his birthday, will many of his mates have one, will it fit under the TV he already owns, can he carry it (and his games) with him to his friends/relatives, and is to cooler for him to own a current gen console or a PC? in 2-5 years time the PS4/XO will still be relevant but a GTX 970 may be a dinosaur, incapable of playing the latest games at reasonable settings.

Good price for a decent spec PC (I would prefer a real SSD to a hybrid drive), but consoles are better value and easier to live with when the main use is gaming. Horses for courses.

Edit: If you do not already own them, you'll need to add a decent monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and game-pad to the price.

I have the same case and similar motherboard as this in my latest budget build PC, the case is lovely and works nicely on its side so fits under a TV well, i have it taking the bottom shelf of my TV stand and it doesnt look out of place at all.

Youre saying that as if you dont have somewhere to sit with a console

It's changed now to say No Operating System Included.

Not a bad price for a premade though, doesn't include any awful corner-cutting components either.

I'm no fan of the SSHD idea, might want to add a dedicated 256gb SSD.

great for the price

Even a potato PC build is a PS4/XBONE killer:

uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/s…PD3

Yes it doesn't come with Windows but if you check Reddit you can buy legit Windows 8.1 Pro for about $25.

What's more than GPU already supports DirectX 12. And you can upgrade it, unlike the consoles. And you'll save money because the games are so much cheaper.

For an XBOX you'd need a monitor/TV, TV Unit/desk, Chair/sofa.

Keyboard and mouse can be had for less than 20.

Apples VS oranges at the end of the day.

Countless counter arguments for each really.

You do know you could buy a mac for double the price but with only half the spec don't you?
