I use the 3600 for gaming, not had a problem with it so far. And the X isn't worth £50 more!

It's not that the 3600 is bad for gaming at all, it just has worse single core performance, which can't really be argued , and the X is worth it IMO provided you want the free game they include, for example if I hadn't already purchased borderlands 3 I would've bit AMDs hand off for the free copy with the X chip.
It's quite literally a free upgrade no matter how tiny provided you want the free game they offer.
Why is this cold? Its a brilliant cpu for single core beats the Ryzen 3600x but not in multi
If you don't need integrated graphics the i5-9600KF is £20 cheaper at £162.61 using the ebay 20% discount voucher and buying from ebuyer.

Depends on what you'll be doing with your PC but for gaming the 9600k is slightly faster but comes without a cooler so factor that into the price also (Cryorig H7 is good for £35-40).

Personally I'd pick the Ryzen due to better price to performance without actually sacrificing much at all performance wise (less than 5% I think, don't remember).

If people decide they don't want the item on sale they give it a cold mark just because it wasn't useful to them personally

That maybe so but how many new games are single core? The last few games I played this year are all using more than 4 cores and maxing them as well.

The i5-9600k is currently better due to those higher clock speeds.

But despite this, the Ryzen 5 3600 is likely to be more future proof as more modern games are able to utilise more cores and threads to boost performance.

Also the next Xbox and PS5 will be utilising AMD Zen2 microarchitecture with their CPUs based on 3000 series Ryzens, so you can bet games will likely be better optimised in the future if you have a Ryzen 5 3600.

Sounds like AMD are going down the nvidia route

Can you give an example of dx11 which are mainly single thread?
peeps still going on about single threads and games?
Gaming performance on a modern CPU is irrelevant. Fact is AMD's 3600 can play pretty much any game at perfectly acceptable frame rates, even if for some reason your playing at low detail and low res on your 2080ti

AMD have Intel beat on IPC, Thread count and Price. And not by small margins. Oh, and power consumption.
Anyone who wants intel are welcome to it, but those that arent into tech need to realize intel have been kicked out of the ring and the bad smell left floating behind is intels marketing team.
Intel for gaming every time.
