Have to say now is the wrong time to buy, wait till Intel reacts to Ryzen product line up and price structure IMO.

Good price though if you really much have this under your tree.

£300 at aria, I'm guessing they have more stock too. spotted it earlier. actually looking to upgrade from a 3rd generation i7

So after a year of waiting you could have a new pc... what if you wait for the intel quantum and the nvidia giganode chipsets. the will be 10x faster when released in the future!

How long has it been since AMD actually competed with Intel's higher end CPU's? It's not every year sadly. It's worth waiting to see how Ryzen competes. Looks good so far.

From the initial reports, it looks like the new Ryzen chip is looking good. Comes down to pricing and I can't see them charging £1000 like intel do for the 6900k. Best to wait and see what happens.

Dont get me wrong, im glad its happening and should be good competition for intel hopefully.

just you can be constantly waiting for the next thing... seems like, as soon as you build a pc, its out of date with the latest tech.

If you were in the market for one, would you buy a 1080 today or wait for the 1080 Ti? That's completely down to you but a lot would wait.

Not really. CPU's for example are kind of brick walled at the moment. Very small improvements. Most improvements happening right now are in GPU's and I/O. The rest isn't so important. My opinion though is to wait and see what happens with Ryzen, because it's been so long without competition.

I wouldn't buy either, both massively over priced!

I agree, if wanting to build one today it's silly not to wait until Jan. However, If you needed a new pc a year ago... then why wait? just my opinion.

also you are saying to wait for the cpu but its not that important as the gpu's are having better improvements... (though I and a lot others were very underwhelmed with the new gpu's from both red and green) so wait for the 1080 ti.... that just proves my point of the constant waiting for the next thing...

No, I am saying wait and see what Ryzen offers the CPU market, price included, not just performance, see how it shakes up Intel's pricing and Kaby Lake. There's no right or wrong here it's just opinions. If you need a CPU today, right this minute, then go ahead and buy whatever you need.

I couldn't wait as I wanted to play bf1 and my 2500k was really struggling being it was 5 years old. I needed a new gpu too and opted for the gtx 1070 so paired with the 6700k it will do me for a few years and hopefully the new tech will be cheaper, that was my plan. I would have missed out on bf1 play waiting for new tech all the time and that wasn't going to happen.
I agree though if you can wait then see what Ryzen brings to the table and prices may fall , but I have always been impatient and also unimpressed waiting for new tech over the years.

if I built this year, I would have had a budget build, I'll have enough money for a high spec pc soon which is about the time the new stuff arrives
