less threads.

Ah, indeed. Read the link above overly quickly. Meant to say more cores (actual physical ones). 8 single threaded vs 6 multi threaded. Heavily depends on the workload but the former is better in most cases for gaming I'd say (I haven't dug deep in the benches).
What is your particular purpose for this powerhouse of a cpu?

Edit to fix typos. It's late, I've had too much coffee today

Seems a decent price, but would it not be worth another 40-50 quid to get the 9700k instead?
More cores, newer gen(not that that is so meaningful in an inter chip) :)). I guess it depends on the workload and user chipset demands, etc.

Heat for the price, for those with this cpu in mind.

Threaded cores usually only have around 33% of the performance of a physical core, an 8c/8t 9700k vs an 6c/12t 8700k will be 8x100pts vs 6x(100+33)pts, 8700k vs 9700k will be the exact same performance when using a program that utilised 12+ cores as they have the same muti-thread performance even with the 8700k having 4 more threads, the reason for a 9700k is if you are running an 8 core program, 8 cores is 800pts, 6 cores and 2 threads is (2x33 + 6x100) = 666, basically in any situation when you are using a program with 7-11 cores used, the 9700k is better, but anything up to 6 cores, they perform the same, hopefully this helps you understand the difference, i apologize if ive got something wrong or skipped over something. P.S, the 9700k has quicksync, very useful for video-editors.
More expensive than the 3700x on the same day. Not good value at all.
Generation old CPU for RRP? Cold
*ahem* R5 3600 *ahem*
Wasn't this the launch price for the 8700K a few years ago? It's a decent price now sure because the cost went up but overall it's a bad buy on a dead end platform.
