First time I've seen this chip for less than £400. Next day delivery is £10, so incl delivery its still less that £400 although you can choose a free delivery option. Also seems to be a reputable site (never bought from them personally..yet).

Absolute bargain for it.
But is it a miss price?

I hope not as I just bit the bullet and ordered it.

£100 more everywhere else.

If it gets delivered you got a bargain.
They are scared of AMD
I've always wanted to build my own PC, can anyone recommend a decent motherboard and other components (perhaps a kit) that I can match this up with. I'd only want to use the PC to do some office work and edit video / images. Any advice would be appreciated.

The 9900k runs pretty warm so you need a pretty decent cooler as one is not included. You'll also need a rather high end motherboard if you want to get the most out of the cpu.

For a first build I would go with something else like a Ryzen 5 cpu or an i7 as heat wont be too much of an issue with anything else.

Good, sensible advice. Tempted myself, but not a gamer, and my i5 4690 is quite good enough. But.......

Honestly unless your doing video rendering and gaming this might be overkill for what you want but if thats the way you want to go then the motherboard needs to be the Z390 chipset. The motherboard features are more a personal choice. Id say most if not all come with an m.2 slot nowadays. So its things like, do you want USB type C for anything, do you want it to have inbuilt wifi etc. For your RAM look for something thats DDR4, higher mhz is better but this will introduce latency (the CL or C rating) but since you didnt mention gaming this probably wont be an issue for you. Personally I'd cool the cpu with liquid cooling, an all in one (AIO) at least.
as much as I dislike Intel this is a good price, just a bit above the 3700x

Also consider Noctua air coolers. They have less points of failure (only a fan Vs fans, pump and tubing) and are often quieter.
Anyone think this will be cheaper on black Friday?
hot and insecure.
Amazing price... I have a 8700k though so I really can't justify the upgrade
Surely a misprice? Get them ordered while you can.

Even though I'm not looking to upgrade might be worth a punt

Great price. (Strong) Speculation is that the new i9 gen 10s are going to be much more reasonably priced. Happy days for competition.

Oos
Perfectly reasonable to expect this to be a real price.
Intel has milked those that are happy to contribute to there margin, now they need to try and win back some market share.
But being you need a 2080ti, play only certain games (and only games) and at low res to make this cpu worth buying over a 3700x - it still needs to be at least £60 cheaper. And ive not mentioned the huge advantages the AMD platform has.

This is great news if its for real tho - AMD are starting to get to a position where they can now charge what they want - and none of us want that, regardless of which side of the fence you sit
BT Shop had it at £352 this morning (price change pretty quick)

wonder if they mis priced and others dropped accordingly. having said that intel on amazon is down to £433
Apparently, desktop Intel 10th gen CPUs are coming in January so we may see more prices like this for the 9th gen leading up to that.

That's not normally how it happens with Intel but let's hope so!

I know but their new HEDT CPUs are half the price of the previous ones so I guess there is a bit of hope.
Well I didn’t get it. Something about a time where their supplier being oos won’t be updated on their system right away. Convenient timing with their lower price

I also haven't received it, ordered it on the 5th.

I only got a generic email though and they haven't cancelled my order.

Yeah I got a generic email saying they can’t deliver on time. The I rang em and the I got the oos email. It wasn’t cancelled till I rang them. They tried to offer me the 9900kf for £80 more so I just cancelled. Less chip for more money... no thank you

A shame

I'm guessing they gave no indication of when they'll be restocked either? I was going to ring them but I saw it wasn't free
