Wasp factory is a bit on the disturbing side but still so good!!
Yeah, Wasp Factory is more than a little twisted. I recently finished Banks's Espedair Street. It's far more conventional but still engrossing.
I’ve read all his Culture novels (some twice). I think Player of Games or Use of Weapons are my favourites. I grabbed the audiobook of Feersum Endjinn recently and hope to start that soon.
I found Feersum Endjinn a little hard to get into but worth persevering!
Thanks, just bought the Wasp Factory, will be my first Bank's novel.
Stick with him if you struggle with the Wasp Factory - I've got pretty much all of his books and The Wasp Factory was probably the least accessible (one of those books that you're pleased/relieved to have got to the end of....)
I agree with Gaspode. The Wasp Factory is quite a dark book. The Crow Road or Stonemouth may be better for a first Banks book. Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy it.
