Moral or political issues should not affect an items value. Try to keep your opinions to yourself. This should be about price, service and quality.....not your personal opinions.

so i should blindly go through life ...very shallow so as long as i get a bargain and save a few pennies omg people !!!!!!!

I give up with this website.
Every time i post a deal all people can do is vote it cold, expire it or just get very bitchy.

On the valid point of iams testing on animals i was led to believe that iams did have a very bad name years ago, but had been sold and was now a very respectable brand with no ties to animal testing.

In future i will keep any hot deals i find to myself and my friends.

If i found a brand new car for a 1p someone would vote it cold and complain it didn't have the right fluffy dice.

this is @36.2 which is hot don't throw your dummy out

Animal testing cannot be justified.

It would be better to test it on lawyers, bankers, journalists, politicians and other ********s like PETA members.

Just done my own research on iams, All the evidence is pre 2003. THATS 4 YEARS AGO.
Alot can happen in 4 years.
Iams no long test on animals except for that time last week when my cat ate too many and was sick.

I have one question for you, make that two questions.

1) If your believes are that strong why do you shop/use one of the most evil supermarkets known to your type, yes i refer you to tesco?

because you can get very good bargains, but at what cost to others. With your principles should you not be shopping else where?

2)Why do you use this website with your believes? , most of the items on here are evil in your world. All i can say is god help your cat been force feed vegetables, i think thats even sicker.

From what I read they don't allow inspections. That would make me uncomfortable, in the uk the rspca can inspect places, but I not sure if the same thing is true of the US. This is a great price and the op shouldn't be blamed for posting it, but for some people the possibility of continued testing and poor conditions for animals might make them uncomfortable. It is right to point things like this out as it allows people to make an informed choice.

Thank you wordsworth.

If we all got on our high horse about animal testing and stopped using everything tested on animals, What would there be left to eat, drink etc....
Just about everything we use in life as been tested on animals.
Its up to you the end user to decide if you want the product, not to be bullied by others into not buying it.
Please make your own minds up.

Also do your own research on the subject and don't just listen to one point of view.
This is my option that iams was a evil animal tester upto the point 4 years ago when they sold out and changed there evil ways.
Uncaged is usually a good source of information, but can be very biased in there views,
But be warned once you start doing your own research and find the truth behind most things we eat, drink etc... you will never eat or drink again.
Animal testing is evil.
Animal testing is so wide spread that boycotting products doesn't work.

For all you veggies out there.

Thank you for the posting Whyme.

It IS appreciated.

Surly testing cat food on cats is the right thing to do anyway???. My cats love it, and this is a great deal, ordered 48Kg, doubt it will arrive, but will wait and see. My moggies are always starving after a hard days work at the labs.

Voted Hot, good find

My mum normally gives our dog Hills food but occassionally puts a bit of IAM's in the food

With not using much of this food compared to Hills I will probably just go to ASDA instead of getting it delivered to save on the delivery charge as I would only purchase a few bags

I have just finished testing the Iams active mature chicken biscuits on my mature Grey cat called ozzy.
After taking away his dish of carrots and frozen garden peas.
We placed two dishes of Iams active mature chicken biscuits in the middle of our rear field been careful to make sure all animals and birds etc. had vacated the field on case the experiment went wrong.
After placing ozzy in the field and retreating several hundred yards, we observed through a telescope.
After several minutes we had to abort the experiment as a butterfly flew past the test site.
After a few minutes the butterfly left the field by a side gate.
On restarting the test experiment we noticed 2 biscuits was missing, after tipping the cat up we managed to recover 1 and half biscuits, the other half will after be recover at a later hour.
After replacing the 2 missing biscuits, we restarted the experiment.
After observing ozzy for 20 minutes, we came to the conclusion.
1) The Iams active mature chicken biscuits maybe safe to use in the house. (need to test the ocean fish at a later date)
2)Ozzy will not eat the biscuits that where tested on ginger cats, but loves the ones tested on all others except one biscuit that had been tested on a three legged, one eared, blind cat called lucky.
3)We should have placed a dish of water with the biscuits.
Remember always make sure that your cat as a good supply of water. If you are worried about your cat using too much water, fit a water meter and bill the cat accordingly.

The experiment was in no way proof that Iams are safe to use in the house or that all biscuits tested on ginger cats are rubbish and shouldn't be eaten by grey cats.
We must also point out that water meters are not always the best option, Its our firm believe that water meters should only be fitted with your cats consent or if he/she refuse to pay there share.
We will be re homing the orphan biscuits that where tested on the ginger cats. The biscuit tested on the three legged, one eared, blind cat called lucky was sadly eaten by next doors dog.

i wouldn't buy this brand either, FWIW. it's not true that "everything" has been tested on animals. incidentally i don't agree with feeding animals a vegetarian diet either, but there are better companies than iams out there.

Banned

thanks. i bought 14 along with some other bits to make up £25!!

Please research your brands, i would not give my money to Iams … Please research your brands, i would not give my money to Iams ever....even if this was 1phttp://www.uncaged.co.uk/iams.htm http://www.iamscruelty.com/

Thanks Meagain.

I appreciate the heads up, it's always good to be made aware of such issues so I can make an informed decision.

As such I will not be taking up this deal. It seems so unfair to make other cats suffer for my cat.

I don't buy groceries online.

It says guide price - what happens if they are out of stock - do they just substitute with similar products (likely to be dearer) or only send what they have?

cheers

Dear me! I gave up posting on MSE (same name) because of bleeding heart liberals taking over the site. Please do not let the same happen here.

This is a very good deal and I thank the OP for posting it. I thank him a lot.

But this site would be useless if nobody posted for fear of being pilloried by some do-gooder.

Edited:

Lets keep it about HOT DEALS eh?

Please keep the conversation about the deal and not try to beat the swear filter, thanks

nobody's pillioring anyone. some people choose not to take up deals based on other factors than just the cost, and it's everyone's right to discuss that.

Settle down please and if you wish to have a discussion on the manufacture or testing of animal foods start a post in misc. Thanks.

Thank you dazco.

One last thing on this iams animal testing.
Iams was a very bad animal tester.
Instead of letting small minded people on here make you believe there views . Why not do the research yourself.
If iams is such a bad company why as none of the so called animal cruelty got any upto date evidence.
If you took the time to read the facts you will see that all this happened upto march 2003.
The biggest and most important point of all is p+g is a us company and it all took place in the us.
The uk market is different.
If you all want to get very scared just google iams us recall or words to that effect.
iams in the us is killing pets with its new products.

Just imagine asda delivering your iams and on the bag it says made in the great usa.
Bet that will scare you.
Asda or should i just call them walmart.
Asda owned by a us company.
Asda selling iams for £1
Now whos getting scared.
Whos now thinking have i ordered too few?
Whos now thinking should i cancel my order?
Whos now thinking i should have vote cold?

To tell you the truth i am never going to post a hot deal on here again.
This site is about hot uk deals not the narrow minded people who are so self centered.

How are they self centered if they care about how animals are treated?

Maybe you could say people are self centered if all they care about is saving money and not the welfare of other people/animals ....but who am i to judge :-D

Sorry i may have worded it wrong.
Most of rant is about the small minded people on here who are trying to wreck a very good site.
This may shock you but i am all for animal rights.
But i am sick of the very biased points of view that most people have.
Do your own research, find out things for your self.

My main gripe is what every the hot deal someone always complains its not good enough.

Why would you moan if you was getting a very good bargain that you may after leave your darkened bedroom and interact with real people.
If the offer was a 10 million pound house for 22p . someone would complain that the front door was the wrong colour.

I will be glad when the 6 formers on here and students get back to school.

If you are that bored why not march for your believes do something pro-active.
Open those curtains theres a world out there.
I know its scary, but take one step at a time.
Maybe even (scary thought alert)help each other.

the only person small minded or not letting this debate go on on the deals forum is you .............this has been cross posted on the misc forum now please post your options on there as the Mod posted earlier.

I have to disagree slightly with Mike T on this. I agree that a broader animal testing discussion should be on the misc forum, however if it relates to the ethical nature of the company I think it is a fair point to raise, for me this is no different to discussing a company's bad return policy or delivery in a thread which often happens. I don't think there should be a discussion on the right and wrongs in general but information to allow a informed decision seems fair to me.

I am a student thanks, because im a student I cant form my own opinion?

I didn’t vote your deal cold and I wouldn’t of even commented or got involved if you didn’t call people self centered because they care about animals welfare.

I do my own research on matters and ive known about Iams cruelty for sometime.

I think posting a link like meagain did is fine or giving information - but yes discussion/argument is better off in the Misc forum. So if you want to go at then it's best to start a thread there and just put a link in here to that one.

oh why does everybody keep picking on me... u live up to your name Whyme!! ;-)
i thought it was a good deal but no £1 offers in Oldbury, only the £2.50s

Original Poster

Still a very good deal, normal price £6.50+

Waste of time, good find at the time I suppose...

I ordered the max 24 of each, and a couple of 6 cans of tango on the 2 packs for £2.

Used the free delivery code.

Guy from asda just turned up with the cans, the cat food was out of stock. Expected to pay the £3.95 for delivery now as well...

Refused delivery, shame my moggies are hungry.

If my cat was to eat something, i would want to know that it had been tested properly, and lets face it, testing it on humans isn't going to thell them anything, is it?!?!?! So long as animal testing doensnt happen for human products and does for animal products, then hey-ho. After all, for centuries, nobel men used to have food testers for themselves!

Original Poster

I didn't receive my iams. didn't expect to. My whole order was screwed. wrong cat food, bread,tv mag etc.. bill was wrong ordered £60+ was charged £39.
Got a full refund and was told to bin shopping or return the goods for replacement.
Might complain to headoffice.
