Have wanted one of these for a while. Was going to get it from Amazon at the end of the month, they have it up for £73.61. Just seen this for £50 while doing the food shop and convinced the other half to let me get it As well as the Freeview channels (including HD), the set top box can also access BBC iPlayer, can download games and surf the web.

For a similar price you can get a TalkTalk Youview HD recorder on ebay with twin tuner and 320GB hard drive plus access to ALL the catch-up services.

Thanks. How does the Talk Talk branding relate? I hear really bad things about their Broadband.

You can use the box on any broadband package - you just don't get the TalkTalk specific channels - I use one on BT Infinity.

So is it essentially just a Freeview Recorder? (sorry I just want to make sure).

Yes it is a dual tuner Freeview HD recorder with internet connection for catchup services.

Sounds dirt cheap though compared to the competition? Is there a catch? Also can you comment on the noise? I have been using the same 80Gb model I got coincidentally for £50 from a Supermarket about 6 years a go. It has served me very well but the if I involve the hard drive (record or watch back) the fan kicks in and its noisy. If I switch off I can hear the fan click off after a minute or so. Something has started to whine on it lately so its at the point that its annoying to watch.

I was looking at a Humax but haven't purchased yet due to the price tag.

The TalkTalk box is silent when on - I have mine in the bedroom and can't hear it at all.
