Mmmmmm bacon!! Cracking price
Before buying know it's probably from the smithfield battery factory in Romania. Really bad standards.
All Iceland bacon gas been poor of late compared to 6 months ago.
I marinade and dry bacon. Can anyone tell me are these the paper thin rashers?
Five isn't enough surely?!

You can put them between 2 sheets of grease proof and take the rolling pin to them. No need to stand in the bacon aisle checking all the packs.
You should only be using 2 rashers per sandwhich, the salt content once you factor the bread, butter and sauce is horrendous

SALT
0.4-0.5g in 1 slice of bread x 2
Butter 0.5g
Ketchup/brown sauce 0.5g
Bacon 1g per rasher

That's 4 grams of salt with 2 rashers and if you were to have 3 you're pretty much just there at your daily recommend of 6g
**This was a response to krooners comment
this is very watery bacon
Crap meat frozen along way
good price (if cheap bacon...) however, it is another example of shrinkflation isn't it?
Since when has 150g or 5 rashers been the normal pack size?

Like every other pack that shrinks, run an offer to disguise the fact...

I'd imagined thinner was better! What are you making? Like a home made ham?
Not a bad price if your on a tight budget to chop up and chuck in a carbonara or something

Bacon biltong. I use a cupboard made into a biltong drier so I dry beef up to about 20mm thick. I use fans and a light to speed drying up. Thick bacon rashers are dry and ready to eat within 36 hours.

Nice! I've had beef bitong, a friend dries it at home. Didn't think to do it with pork.
Horrible stuff when buying bacon you want quality not quantity. Aldi do some very nice dry cured bacon.
Is the link below not a better deal ? 300g thick cut for 99p (already posted within a Lidl mega-thread).

** Ends today though **

Lidl Thick Cut Bacon 300g @ 99p.

Yes cause when i hace a bacon sandwich in really worried about the salt content.

Anyway 5 slices is just about enough for 1 sandwich.
Plenty in my local store this morning,
Didn't buy any thou as it was very fatty.
Come here, you sexy minx.

Who does the best value block butter these days?

It used to be £1 not long ago but I think a Tesco one had jumped up to £1.80.

Butter prices churned as market goes from shortage to meltdown

Yeah I bought some of those it was this weeks offer but ends today. Nice a thick, so I freeze some and cut them into pieces to add to certain meals like macaroni cheese.
Nothing better than all 5 rashers cooked in goose fat till crispy and loaded on 2 big bread wedges plastered with real butter a few eggs and some tomato sauce.

Yes I do this twice a year..all in moderation haha

Of course I have.

Have you ever bought Iceland bacon? It's mostly watery fatty stuff that shrivels to the size of a postage stamp when cooked.

Cooking bacon at least sometimes had decent bits and there's enough of it to make a sandwich.

If you do a lot of physical activity especially aerobic sports i wouldn't bother worrying about this. You lose so much sodium through sweat it shouldn't be an issue.
