Massive polish breasts!? Think I've seen that movie
The worst chicken in existence would eat if I was paid! Watery pumped rubbish.

Freeze them on the day of purchase like most do & thaw in the fridge the night before use. It ain't rocket science
Bearing in mind how many fried chicken shops and takeaways in general .. People are mighty choosy about chicken sold in supermarkets.. Do you go in the local Indians /Chinese demanding to know the origin of the meat they use .?
.. Nah thought not .

I'd rather have 1 pack for £8
I'm pretty sure this is not British chicken, however not 100% if that bothers you.

It's Polish, better than US chickens we will get after brexit.

We will still get polish ... what's important is that they aren't pumped full of water.
Also worth noting these are massive so not to everyone's liking.

It is dry and rubbery. It smelled gross when I opened the pack.

Iceland's whole chickens are UK and just fine. The bone-in thighs are Polish and taste rank; they were also badly jointed and there were bone splinters all over the place.
Got to be the worst chicken breasts on the market , full of water and bad quality.

Why? They can’t read the comments

If you think Polish chicken is bad, go and buy British one from Tesco or other supermarkets...

Who's complaining about the origin of the chicken?
All I see is people complaining about the taste, and seen as though the only thing you do with it is eat it it's a fair complaint.
Bought this in the past, but ever again though. Taste and texture is very poor in comparison to the 5kg packs I buy from bookers

Does say on packet once opened consume within 24 hours so if you have to buy it make sure you freeze what you don't cook after opening it

Because they are washed with Chlorine?

Confirmed by EU scientists to be safe, so Brexit, or no Brexit, if/when the EU strikes a deal with the US, whats stopping it getting in anyway?

I've got news for you, salad, and your tap water is cleaned with Chlorine too.

Can’t be any worse than Asda’s chicken

That's the funniest/most depressing part. We're a "nation of animal lovers" until it comes to eating out, visiting a friend, going on holidays...or even just eating at home.

People pretend they care about animal welfare because they bought some free-range chicken once, as though it's any better than caged.

But not to the same levels, I'd trust UK and EU standards before the US.
Silicone breast

A vast amount of ready meals in the supermarkets are made with Chicken from Thailand. In terms of animal welfare, the US is ranked D and Thailand E (World Animal Protection). api.worldanimalprotection.org/

People want cheap at the end of the day, it's all down to buyers choice and checking the label. However, I'm willing to bet that a good amount of people don't look at the origin of food that they are buying, and more the price.

You're right I buy food from Iceland, the frozen food meats from Iceland supermarkets come from all over. At least for the fresh stuff we may as well continue the standards we have with the EU.

Judging by the comments regarding polish /eu chicken ,it seems the problem with the American stuff is that it will probably undercut the price of the EU stuff. So the ban reflects protectionist pricing not a genuine health concern by the EU
I bought some of this yesterday and it's as tough as old boots compared with my typical everyday chicken breast, such as from Aldi . Not sure if it's something to do with the Polish farm conditions or the transportation but this was very disappointing.

I had the same problem before a couple of years ago and wrote it off as a bad batch but it seems it's fairly typical, although I'd be interested to hear someone else's feedback. Usually my chicken tikka will come out juicy and delicious when I use Aldi's meat but this stuff is just tough and stringy - despite being cooked in exactly the same manner for the absolute minimum time required to ensure it is cooked through.

Edit: just reading back through the comments and it seems I'm not the only one. Voting cold now, because cheap meat is no good if it's rubbish meat. I guess the hot votes are for price alone.

As an experienced amateur cook I would say to stick with Aldi chicken breast for value-for-money (which is consistently succulent and soft). I'm probably going to throw this in the bin and make a cottage pie for dinner now, so hopefully Iceland minced beef isn't as vile as the chicken breast. Poor show, Iceland

I buy these size packs all the time for my family and they are excellent ... I'll be stocking up on Monday 👌
