iD Mobile 500 mins, 1.5gb 4g data and 5,000 texts £5 one month rolling contract

Found 15th May 2017
For £5/mth you get 500 minutes, 5,000 texts and 1.5GB of 4G data on rollover. You can choose to limit your bill to no more than £5 over the tariff price. Also you can roll your unused data over into the next month. So use only 750mb one month and you'll have 2.25gb to use the next.

Who can get it?
Need-to-knows
One-month contract.
Runs off the Three network.
If you exceed your allowance, it's 10.24p/MB for data, 40p/min for calls to UK mobiles or landlines and 14p per text.
Tethering isn't allowed with this network*
You'll be credit-checked – see our Credit Scores guide.

Not a bad deal but iD is crap on customer service. Plusnet also available at this price but does not rollover! Check which network is better for you roams on the three network

*officially its not but iD say it uses up your allowance too quickly however they will not throw you off for tethering maybe id can confirm that!

Customer service via Twitter has been top notch. Phone line support great also. Can't fault them. Only issue is they gave us 1gb data but instead of it being 1000mb they gave us 2x 500mb so we'd get a text saying you rang out of data when we were halfway through.

I had a lot of issues with them. Over-billing of data was my specific issue. They turned my service off due to high data usage (over 500 meg) and then said "while my service was turned off" that I had used something like 3.5 gig of data. It took months to get them to refund me for excess charges, had to go to Ombudsman to get it fixed.

Then about 4 months after my contract was over I could see a bad mark on my credit report for non-payment. After they closed my account they billed me for a few extra days, never informed me, but ended up putting about 6 months of late-payment records against my credit report. I phoned and tried to get it fixed but it eventually went far too long and had to go to the Ombudsman once again to get it fixed!..

Glad to hear you get on well with them. I did not.

I cancelled my contract within 14 days and didn't use the sim. They then created a false charge of £1.80 and never informed me. Months down the line, I then got refused finance as I had outstanding payments on my credit file. Phone call after phone call got nowhere lots and lots of broken promises to fix. I had to do a dispute on equifax to finally clear my record 2 months after. All over their incompetence. Read plenty of other threads I'm not alone. Beware of these cowboys.
The allowance is ok until you use all your data and then the £5 cap turns into an extra 50MB of data so could end up costing you 10.00 a month, by the time you get the text telling you you have run out of data, bang another £5 on the bill. This happened to my son many times until we thought not really worth it in the end.

Why not just go for the 5gb one for £10 a month? Or use plusnet who have a £2 smart cap and they dont charge more even if it goes way over by the time they update their system

Another one here who fell foul of cancelling contracts with ID mobile. The wife and I could not to get a signal at home and so cancelled the day the sim cards arrived. They emailed confirmation they had cancelled them as per our rights within the cooling off period. They raised a spurious £1.50 charge against both accounts unbeknown to us until I was doing the monthly credit checks with Noddle, Clearscore and MSE Credit Club. They hadn't used Callcredit (Noddle) but both Clearscore (Equifax) and MSE Credit Club (Experian) were showing our accounts as being one moth in arrears for a £1.

As well as raising complaints with ID Mobile we raised disputes with both Experian and Equifax. I have to say Experian were excellent at dealing with the dispute whilst Equifax were very poor. It's been extremely time consuming rectifying their mistakes. I have asked for recompense and for our time and damage to our credit from ID Mobile, if they decline I'm going to raise a dispute with the ombudsman. They are now on my small list of companies who I'd never use again.
Beware ID Mobile... Lots of problems !!! I also cancelled with them under the 14 days because of no signal .. I also found out they put a mark on my credit reference history.. It took months for them to sort out and lots of my time wasted doing this.. So Beware ..

I don't use iD mobile myself as have 2g only phone but thats bad! Use plusnet and have had no problems at all. I use three in my ipad for smart capabilities. But seems these cheap operators have less use of the network somehow

I didn't realise they were that bad.. You would think Ofcom would act on this.
I'm on this deal and it's shockproof and roll over (go to plan),I phoned them up and sorted it with no issues also they got a gr8 app.

Sounds like all mobile operators! On plusnet and no probs at all. Depends what goes wrong and whether you'll need customer services
Been with them a while now and no problems.
I think everybody has probably had an issue with one network or another over the years (mine was with Vodafone), but after the many networks I have been on, I rate ID up there with the best. Been on contract and now on payg, first 5/month deal and now on the 10/month deal and I've had no issues, reception great, even when I called CS, got answered in a few minutes.
There are two things you need to be aware of, data doesn't include tethering (according to the contract , I'm sure someone on here has though and never been charged ), and if you want to change the deal you're on and keep your number, you need to go to another network and come back.
Thank you everyone for the comments regarding leaving bad marks on your credit file, I was thinking of changing three sims from giffgaff to ID mobile but now I will avoid ID mobile.

Hi hassanomar, its unfortunate that you had this experience, for any returns within 14 days you would only be charged for the service your received which is why the bill of £1.80 would have been produced. Normally this would have been taken by direct debit however if the direct debit was cancelled before the account was cleared, it would remain outstanding.

Please don't pretend to be bothered about it now - I rang your company no less than 50times and never got a resolution. Your CS is terrible. There was no use of the sim and the person on the phone when cancelling confirmed to me at the time when I rang that there was no outstanding balance. Even if there was, you have the opportunity to inform me by call / text / letter / email - did you do any of these? No! Just screwed up my credit with a completely fictitious charge and as a result my house purchase fell through. The fact that I'm not alone which is even more representative of what a terrible company you are.
I was nearly going to go for this deal until I read the Trust pilot reviews
with page after page of disgruntled customers.

It may only be a Fiver a month but I'm not becoming another 'victim' of theirs.

Hi paulandpam1,

We know that Trustpilot shows a negative opinon however, most UK networks have the same sort of posts and scores, this doesn't represent all the customers.

We work to help any customer who has a problem, so please do not be put off and feel free to get in touch on Facebook or Twitter.

Been with iD for over 12 months and have had zero issues. Take the bad reviews with a pinch of salt - it's like anything, you only ever hear folks moaning about something and never praising it. Any anyway, just cancel it after a month if you're not happy, it's not the end of the world.
