This is not the absolute cheapest deal, but may help those, like me, that live in an area that is O2 only for signal or can't be bothered to change network.
On Chat, got through to the Retention dept and asked for a deal to compete with the GiffGaff 3gb/500min/unl txt @£10.
After a bit of conversation came up with the above and includes the usual add ons or Priority Tickets etc. For the sake of a quid, I went for it.
The only downside is that the TuGo VOIP service is being shortly discontinued, which is a shame as it worked well.

An awful deal - you can get that for £7 with most other providers

Terrible deal, I just left O2 and got unlimited minutes and texts with 12gb of data from Three for 12 quid a month.

On top of that the TuGo app was clearly developed by Satan himself.

Get your coat matey, I rarely ever vote cold but you just got caught in an extreme weather event!

I just left o2. Didn't do me a deal. Went on three. They have very good deals at the moment.

As said above, only a deal if O2 is your only available network, but thanks for reading anyway.

Yet again I REPEAT THIS IS IF o2 IS YOUR ONLY CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have found TuGo very good in many countries where Skype or FT wasn't.

Why is o2 your only choice? A lot of other providers share the operating frequencies with o2.

Yes, you are right. GiffGaff and Tesco both run off the O2 network. In fact I run 2 phones for my kids off Tesco. Great customer service too. I can also get Vodaphone, but it doesn't work in certain places around my area, like the pub!!!!!, which makes it a no go. EE and 3 I can get on the top floor of the house, if I face north west and there isn't a massive high pressure weather system over the UK!
The reason that I don't migrate to Tesco/GiffGaff is that their roaming charges outside of the EU are higher than O2. I spend a lot of time in various countries, if I need a lot of access, the O2 travel at 4.99 a day is reasonable (Tesco and GiffGaff have no equivalent), usually I voice call over TuGo (not for much longer) or FT. Everything else is over the wifi in the hotel or wherever I can get it.
Hope this explains the logic, so the OP might just help someone who is reluctantly stuck with O2!
However, if someone comes up with a cheaper O2 tariff, I'll happily cancel and change.

Even though I live on the edge of London 3 network has been very poor for me both times I signed up with them.
For me o2 has had the best signal and I've been in all the major providers over the years.
They are probably the most expensive though!

What a terrible deal. Use a network that shares the o2 signal. This ‘deal’ should never be anyone’s only option. Voted cold.

I give up, ROFL, does anyone actually read a thread before posting a reply?
This is what it must be like in the White House.

Yeh - we read it. You posted a retention deal that was targeted for yourself and state that it is not the cheapest deal, but somehow, you are expecting praise or recognition. Odd.

Actually no, that isn't the case at all. Quite often people post specialist or targeted items on HUKD specifically to help a few people that might not be served by the majority. It is called a 'community' for a reason.
Having stated the drawbacks and limitations of the deal in the OP, what I DO expect, is people to just cast an eye over it before offering criticism.
What is noticeable, is that no-one has posted a deal which is:
1 Cheaper on the O2 network on a like for like basis.
2 Cheaper on a network that shares the O2 network and has cheaper international roaming or a daily international useage charge.

As stated above, find one for me and I'll cancel the one I took out today, you will be doing me a favour.

This is not a specialist deal. o2 have offered you a poor deal as reflected by the lack of heat and comments.

Perhaps you should have looked yourself for the below:

1. Like-for-like cheaper here.

2. Roaming is now free as part of any SIM-only deal. You've already been shown a cheaper and better Tesco deal that includes roaming for the minutes, texts and 4GB.

Firstly, since I am a fair minded person. Well Done. The link you posted is cheaper than the deal I have with O2 by 25p per month. Genuinely, that is well done and thanks for the research.

But, and its a big but, I explained above, it is roaming OUTSIDE of the free EU countries that is the problem with the likes of GiffGaff/Tesco.

Keep at it, hopefully you will save me a bit more yet.

Also worth noting that 'your' deal is a 'redemption' deal, which can be a pain in the backside getting the moneyback.

Excellent - you've solved your own problem!

I only came to find a good O2 or equivalent deal....didnt realise the agro I was about to read

the tesco one posted not bad but I want something for about 6 quid ideally for my daughter - like the Plsnet deals but on O2 network...come on Giff Gaff up the data on your base package

I have a solution. Get EE and use the WiFi to signal boost.

Yes i've seen and that's my cue to go, BT giving good deals I can;t get in house whilst typing this with out tugo

That’s rubbish as I had that deal last year with them after my contract ended and it was only £10pm. I moved to Virgin for 6GB data instead (deal no longer available) £10pm after o2 wouldn’t budge on the 2GB data.
Edited by: "iGlad" 24th Oct

I got the same o2 deal on business for £7.54 - vat about £8.40 a month with 1 month free line rental not the best deal but im happy with o2
