Ikea 'Malm' Superking Bed Frame - White-Stained Oak/Low Sides £95

Found this in the Gatehead Ikea store a few days ago. I believe it's UK Superking size, and it's in the white-stained oak veneer! It has low sides and £95 covers the cost of the bed frame, galvanised bars, and 2 x slats. Delivery was £25, or £35 if you want them to pick the slats/galvanised bar as well as the bedframe! Maybe national; I believe the beds with the lower sides are now being discontinued.

I've just bought this bed with the high frame and drawers underneath for £245. I can't recommend it enough - beautiful and sturdy. I will say this though: if you are short for space in your room, don't get the low one. That is a lot of space underneath the bed which will go to waste.

Heat added!

Yes - there's very little clearance under the bed!

Had this frame (king size) for about 5 years now and still going strong, little bit squeaky but that's not the beds fault if you get what I mean

We have the storage bed version, definitely the most practical for maximising storage in my opinion. Just a shame the colours are limited.

I have the black version of this bed and it's still going strong after 4 years. Bare in mind, if you have bad knees, that the bed is very low to the ground, about 40cm odd clearance, may be slightly higher in the super king version though.

Malm furniture should be discontinued altogether... not Ikea's best effort....

Warning: comes with none standard mattress. You won't find sheets for it anywhere.

I have this bed, we paid much more. It's huge! No problem buying sheets either, all fit fine.

it is very squeaky !!! nearly 7 years we had it!

God I would love this! Now all I need is a house to put it in.

Good deal looking for a bed and this is a fair price,

had my malm kingsize 10 years in December and its about due a replacement but cant argue for the price to last a decade

Usually some oil on the supports underneath the slats helps, the X metal cross-section you'll see if you lift them up. Cooking oil will do.

Also got this bed - and also paid a lot more. The surface along all four sides is handy; doubles as a place for me to lazily plonk my phone, glasses and coffee cup... until I idiotically knock them off with the duvet.

If its squeaky maybe you should cut down on the kinky stuff lol don't tie the wife to the bed

You better get used to cracking your shins on the sides as you walk round it

These are great strong beds but they are huuuuuge and you wouldn't want to dismantle one to move house I can assure you lol

For £95, I don't think I'd be necessarily bothered about dismantling it!

As for sheet size, there appears to be a very, very small difference in sizes between the space for the mattress, and UK superking mattress size; so small, I genuinely don't think it's even a problem, but each to their own...

agreed. I have it in white with storage - very practical

When I put a fitted sheet on my single bed its no joke.... google ... woman versus bed sheet and watch the video

I've just moved in to a rented flat and we have the low side Malm superking size. It's a cracking sized bed. Solid as a rock too. Sheets aren't a problem. £9 for one in Ikea. I will agree on the space underneath. You can't really put anything under it.

Does anyone know the measurements for this? I'm looking for a Super Kingsize bed, but I can't seem to find any on the Ikea website.

RoyalVilla, the low-height beds are discontinued if that's what you're looking for, so I'd imagine they've taken them off of the website.

What measurements are you looking for exactly? Just length and width or clearance/headboard height etc also?

Have the kingsize one of this. It's great except for the clean edges - it's a shin killer!

Just length and width of the superking really - I assume the headboard height will be the same as the other sizes.
Maybe I should phone up my local Ikea to see if they have stock.

I'll check mine for you tomorrow and post the dimensions on here - need to measure it anyway cos I'm off to buy a mattress! X

I bought this bed over 10 years ago.. its been taken down and re assembled 4 times and recently gave it to a friend. couldn't recommend it more.

I remember buying some thin plastic containers with it in ikea that fit underneath perfectly from ikea whichh were great for storage... long time ago tho so not sure if they still sell them.

This bed came with my new furnished house. It's indeed massive.

But there's a problem, the creaking. No matter what I do, I can't stop the creaking. It's really sensitive, you can't roll an inch without it making a noise. I feel like I've done everything I can to stop it. I put linen between the slats and the frame, then I added kitchen roll between them, and then through a duvet between the mattress and the bed.

Nothing stops the creaking. After a couple of months of use I'm thinking of just tearing it down and just throwing a mattress in the corner.

Mine isn't too bad to be honest, but I have a super heavy mattress, so maybe that's helping the matter?!
