Do you have to build the phone yourself before you can use this?

Been on the identical ASDA tarfiff for about 8 months now.
Considering porting over to GiffGaff because the same tariff but other extras such as FREE GiffGaff to GiffGaff for 3 months on a £5 topup

also on Asda for a while, only downfall is the lack of extra services, Ikea is the same...
only £200/Gb for 3G internet

Great service from this provider, I chose my own number, none of this cut you off if you don't use the service rubbish etc.

Great for an emergency phone.

The major plus of giffgaff is the free data till the end of Feb along with the 3months giffgaff to giffgaff calls - however there's only £10 top ups to get this (unless this has changed in the last week or so).

Not all Virgin phones work with my Ikea Sim Card, all T Mobile ones that I have tried do.

No it is pre-assembled but on close inspection you will find that actually it is just a thin veneer picture of a decent mobile phone stuck over a much cheaper basic model.

can u pick these up in store?

Can you call 0843 and 0871 numbers fom Ikea and Asda Mobile and if so how much?

Can you call Botswana numbers fom Ikea and Asda Mobile and if so how much?

BEST bet Tesco, double your credit, when u top up.
Giff gaff another option, can't see Asda competition succeeding at all, please don't mention Ikea!!! (just forget it).they are better deal out there.

Do Tesco, Asda or Giff Gaff allow you to choose your own number ?

Well for the light user, Asda Mobile is probably better. You pay £5 to buy the SIM and it includes £10 top-up, so you already have double that of Tesco. Double your credit on Tesco only applies if you regularly top up your SIM every month. Also Tesco charge £4 per MB on internet usage (imagine going online accidentally, bham! credit gone), and 50p per minute to call customer services. Whereas ASDA charge 25p per MB internet, and a call to customer service is 25p max per call. Other factors are Tesco piggy backs on O2, and ASDA on Vodafone, so which one you choose may also depend on the signal strength for that particular network in your area.

Without the clubcard points, but with £200 per Gb versus £4000 per Gb on Tesco ... so not the same at all!

My take on it is for these 8p/4p tariffs... if you have an unlocked or O2 phone, go for giffgaff (same rates, free internet now, cheapest internet with a semi-cap later, interesting optional bundles).

If your phone is locked to Vodafone, it's ASDA or unlock then giffgaff.

If your phone is locked to TMobile, it's Ikea or unlock then giffgaff.

If perpared to spend £10 per month, Tesco is a cracker. But £10 would always get me what I want from giffgaff, and often £5 for their experimental bundles does (currently gets me lots of texts, free internet, 60 mins plus 1 min for every min that someone calls me)
