Not to be unduly critical but these don’t sound anywhere near as good as the Sonos own brand speakers. They’re okay and I feel like the next generation will be worth a look but the sound isn’t quite right. It’s fine but disappointing for the price tag. If you have never heard a Sonos speaker before and have no reference, you could well find these to be perfectly acceptable.
werdas08/12/2019 17:30

How this to compare with THE 1?

There's a detailed breakdown
but essentially it's a Sonos Play1 (not Sonos One) with slightly cheaper circuit board chips and build quality.

Does anyone else know if this is in all stores? Particularly the Coventry store

Seems like a good price would definitely pick one up

Bargain
Hot!!! Bookshelf isn’t as good sound wise as the lamp but this is a great price!
Is it for the white only?

Seem decent, watched a really good review on these the other day, includes a sound comparison

I was interested in this deal and spoke to customer services who said according to their system the Symfonisk speakers are £99 everywhere so this must be that store only - did mention that there is a family card deal of 10% off from the 19th Dec... Right when this deal ends and brings this speaker to £89 not £75 so if you want it at this price and can get to the Lakeside store that's your best bet I guess.
I’d be VERY interested in this, seeing as you could get two of these to make a stereo set up and that’s would be the same price as a Sonos One on it’s own! now I want to go to Ikea!
Or surround sound for a soundbar
I wonder if it’s national I have a £50 of £300 could get 4 for £62.50 each
Can it be mixed with sonos? To make stereo sound?

Yep
Do they use the same Sonos app and does anyone know if they use the same URL’s for the standard commands ? I have a feeling they don’t but not bought one to test

they function identically to any other Sonos speaker. Same setup, same app, anything else you do to them should be the same too
Shame this isn’t an online price
Mine are identical in use as a Sonos 1 (the 1 without Alexa) sound wise they are 95.9% as good.

Same app, same api, etc. Running a pair with my Sonos beam as rear sound on TV.

No you cannot pair an ikea one and a Sonos one or Sonos play but can pair two IKEA or 2 two IKEA and a Sonos beam.

They are not as good as Sonos One, but definitely not crap. For kitchen or as rears for sounbar or beam - should be OK.

Ond they are almost twice as cheap compared to Sonos one SL.

NO!
Dunno about the Ikea ones, but each Sonos product type can only be paired to another of the same type. This even extends to a play:1 and a ONE. They cannot be in a stereo pair.

Not as good. (Symfonisk Lamp is closer to Sonos One in terms of sound quality)

That makes sense as a stereo pair need to be identical otherwise it is going to sound weird.
Anyone confirm any other stores

I actually watched this tear down a week or so ago and it seems they are very similar. They seems to be made at the same factory and shared most internal parts with the Sonos range.

If you can’t afford for their normal gear the Ikea range seems like a good fit.

To be *completely* clear, there are 3rd party apps that will pair them, but if you've bought Sonos gear, then you are deliberately screwing it up by doing so.
They stop you pairing for a reason.

Disappointing for the price tag? Its £75... If your expecting Sonos one performance at half the price then I think you are being unduly crit.

I have both this and sonos ones. They sound pretty good to me, for a kitchen or a second room they are perfect. They are great to use as bookshelves and integrate into a multi sound setup very easily. For this price it's a steal and a great addition if you already have a sonos setup.

I also have the lamp which sounds incredible and that is definitely on par with one's.

Just a shame they are not available in Coventry ikea. Otherwise I'd be making an appearance at 8am tomorrow.

But to be clear you CAN play music through both simultaneously, you can also use them as a multiroom setup. It just won't be stereo.

You can group as many as you like of any type. But he did ask about stereo!
Well, if they're still going to be in stock when I manage to get around there and the £50 off £300 offer applies, this is pretty darn good! I'm a little bit of a hi-fi snob, but for the price these are not bad at all!

Apparently (I've not tried it) SonoSequencr can force 2 mismatched speakers to pair, I think there's a simular 3rd party app for android that can also do it.

That said I'm not sure it's a good idea even if you do get it to work as the channels would be somewhat unbalanced I would think.

Almost right. You can pair a Sonos One with a One SL.

I think so, essentially - they "have two amps, one tweeter and one mid-woofer" but One has "custom drivers" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah and I think I’d pay £50 for them at most (a stereo pair for £100 seems about right). If you’re buying Sonos, presumably you’re interested in the quality of sound. These aren’t quite right sadly.
