It's a shame this site is so influenced by personal feelings rather than the site purpose, locating the best deal for a product.

Possibly one of the best changes this site could make would be to remove the possibility to submit a "cold" vote. Then it would stop the product haters distorting a deal.

Not for a full computer with a quality 5k IPS panel included it isn't. This is a decent price and at least the iMac uses desktop processors and upgradeable RAM. For anyone wanting/needing MacOS it's a lovely machine.

A desktop CPU now? My i7 is a laptop chip. My Sandybridge PC is about the same performance as it?

There's always loads of people claiming they are overpriced while not taking into account quality, reliability, the great OS, etc. I never see anybody offering any alternatives with similar/same spec and quality at a lower price (not that I'd want to use Windows ever again, personally). I should have known it would go cold.

Currys also has the same price currently, though without the 2 year warranty. That may suit some.

OK, to be pedantic about it, totally overpriced, for a similar specced computer (not an overblown iMac) - luckily on a public forum I am entitled to share my own opinion lol!

edit: not a mac fanboy like others on this post - I have an iPad pro 12" as it is the best tablet for me as an expensive magazine/comic reader, nothing comes close - but as a personal computer there is no doubt that this is poor value and a poor spec, sorry fanboys!

Okay, so you accept that there is no tablet in the World to compete with iPad Pro, but can't accept that the iMac has no true competitors when it come to an All-in-One?

Have you tried using a Mac?

LOL, well seeing as I work in I.T., yes, and I hate em lol - you're not gonna sell me on a Mac as a PC I'm afraid, just my (valid) opinion!

An iPad Pro as a magazine reader is an excellent definition of poor value.

Yawn.

That's why I field so many calls from people who are sure it is "just a tick box they are missing somewhere" or similar - yeah right, that's why you're phoning me then lol.

Just because you can drive a car doesn't make you a mechanic.

Maybe so, but it is the ONLY choice for reading mags/comcs in the correct aspect and A4 page sized. I know this because I have been through a dozen devices or so over the years trying to find the holy grail and the iPad Pro 12.9 is the only one that fits the bill (despite my dislike for overpriced Apple products in general).

However the functions that an iMac can carry out can be replicated on COUNTLESS (I would say better and cheaper) devices...

I have a moan about Microsoft's Surface Book too when people sing its praises, a prime example of a terrible overpriced product that doesn't live up to its promise, so I'm not just an Apple basher lol.

HAHAHA , that's the kind of thinking that has helped turn eBay into a disaster zone where sellers can't leave "appropriate" feedback for dodgy buyers...

The whole point of HUKD is that people's opinions as to what is hot and what is not is subjective - it's not the online equivalent of North Korea for goodness sake!

I think you're missing the point of a 'deal'. Is this a good price for the item (in comparison the the same item elsewhere). If the answers yes, it's a deal, of the answer is no, it's not.

Arguing about whether an equivalent Windows machine is better value is pointless, and would also be incredibly complex.

Find an iMac 27 deal cheaper than this?

A very narrow perspective to be sure (and I would argue that it is you that is missing the point somewhat), so we'll just have to agree to disagree and let the hotness (or in this case notness) of this "deal" be decided by the great unwashed HUKD masses...
Absolute trash product, overpriced garbage lol

Spoken like a true Apple hater.

Show me a system which by your standards isn't "absolute trash" and which is the same spec or better and at the same or lower price?

While technically true, the big hurdle for me (and likely a lot of others) is that those systems will run Windows*. They are also often of a much lesser build quality, cheap and plastic feeling and just not well thought out.

* I quite liked Windows 7, it's the best Microsoft have ever made. Windows 8 was terrible and Windows 10 is an abomination.

I've done 20 years in IT including as a sysadmin for ISP's & Telco's. I've worked with Linux and Solaris mostly and have run Linux, Windows, BSD and Mac OS at home as my main systems over the years.

Mac's are not quite perfect but the hardware is better built than most and the OS is infinitely better than the alternatives.

I could complain about the price being higher for a similar spec but the fact is that I've been more productive since I've been a Mac user and haven't had to deal with even a fraction of the hardware and software issues I did when running Windows on other brands.
