Shame theres no 27" on offer. Good price on the 850 one. Heatttt

good side of this deals is that iMac for 799 is available in-store deal co you can price match it and get it even cheaper from different shops like Currys or John Lewis

Good call. Those 800 ones are still 850 at pc world and currys

I'll probably get dismissed as an Apple-hater, but is there anything other than the brand name that makes these worth more than twice what you would pay for a similar spec. PC?

Not a bad price although this is the previous version of the imac. Personally I would get the newer i5 model.

I'm not an iMac lover quite opposite, but if you would like to build small factor PC using high end aluminium case with 21" IPS monitor with high end aluminium wireless keyboard, good quality wireless mouse plus cost of windows7 you would probably pay similar money or more

new version model is bit tricky better processor but ati hd 6750 is about 30% slower than ati radeon 5750

I pay the extra over "similar spec. PC?" because I want to run 'supported' Mac OS X not Windows 7. That puts PCs out of the frame for me. Whenever people go on about how you can get a similar spec. PC for less and how it's all about the brand and image they forget one crucial difference... Mac OS X.

Not that they're directly equivalent, but the Radeon 4670 version is available at the Apple Refurb Store for £769

True, for a decent all in one, these are the best, some dells are about £700-£800 and are no where near this level of quality

Screw it, put Windows 7 on it and you'll have a great all in one

Wow a sensible comment on a Mac thread!

I am getting bored of this war against macfags. Is the same as those Mormons knocking at the your door. You will never convince then that Steve Jobs < GOD.

I was very interested in the £849 model but, these do not appear to play blu-ray discs?
Am I correct here?

complete utter rubbish as i posted in another deal to do with imac you can build a system with the same spec for about £200 less using m-itx 1155 board.

who seize you have to pay for windows you don't there is other operating systems that are free and if you check you can install mac osx on a lot of intel pc systems now that is all imac are is pcs in fancy casing with a badge adding premium cost.

LOL

below spec. in terms of build quality near to iMac processor is better (SB), compare to iMac ati 5750 for £849 just £14 cheaper, so I would say its complete utter rubbish to state you can build same spec/quality PC for half price of mentioned iMac

LG 21.5IN LED 1920X1080 16:9 8MS - IPS226V-PN £178.57

You can probably do it for a bit less than that if you go for a cheaper case and motherboard, and cheaper wireless keyboard and mouse.

That said, you forgot a DVD-RW drive, SD card reader and dual band WIFI adapter

right - dvd another 17-20 quid thanks, wifi another 17-20 quid, shuttle sd card reader build in (it was quick quote I forgot few details)

..the reason I used mentioned components is I wanted to build PC with possible good quality components to get close to iMac quality

Crazy why are you choosing a shuttle barebone system for £250 you can pick up Antec itx case with 150w psu included for about £70 a 500w psu for a small build is crazy unless your a gamer

Next windows 7 is optional and a student version can be picked up for £45 so that is say another £20 knocked off.

I also noticed how you have tried bumping with sandbridge this imac uses i3 540 1156 not a new sandbridge setup

You can keep trying to make your lovely apple product look great price but it's not I can keep picking at parts which will bring it to like I said atleast £200 difference.

For the same price as the 5750 model which is £850 you could build a pc with sandbridge i5 with blu-ray no problem and still have bit more then £50 left.

it's not about apple vs pc it's about price and at the end of the day apple macs are intel pcs with the fancy casing/apple badge.

I've mentioned SB processor is better but believe me first gen i3 component are just little bit less expensive. I didn't add price of DVD and WiFi (so to be honest with old i3 but DVD and WiFi i would be the same) , the reason I've chosen Shuttle Barebone is this is only small factor barebone which can get close with quality to iMac thats why I've also chosen better keyboard and mouse. I'm not saying iMac are better than PC in general to be honest I've never owned iMac always had PS since my 286AT, but to be objective I have to state that I've never seen such a well build PC like iMac. Also after year or two you can still sell your iMac it doesn't loose value (check on eBay) like PC and upgrade into newer system.
