Didn't know this was there. Visited the museums in the Deansgate-Castlefield area the other day (need to go again and see the space capsule) and a cheap hour or two out (should you pay the suggested £3 donation).

£3 seems fair to me
I find the Royal Armouries in Leeds far more interesting, with a lot more to see and do. Both are free though, so worth a look if you haven't been before.

It's really well done. But you do get a bit "oh there is yet another mint 300 year old gun... and another..... and another 100"
Not been to the Manchester one, it's a bit far, but I know about it now, so thanks.

Be aware that although admission is free at the Manchester IWM North, if you park in the car park it is £5 minimum for up to 4 hours
Great deal OP, heat added.

You'll have to fight to get in there
I like to try and get a feel for the objects I see but was once asked to leave because I touched one of the exhibits

it was a ww2 ( armour plated) tank which I could easily have damaged!
always been free - extra to see some exhibits though

What is the relevance to the deal? And what were you touching the tank with?
I’d like to highly praise the IWM North’s free exhibitions that I’ve seen over the years. They have had high quality artefacts, both in terms of military hardware, but also the personal belongings from service men/women. There has also been loads of information to read, which I like.

I think though that it is fair to describe the museum as being an anti-war museum.

It’s very close to the Lowry centre where you can also see L.S. Lowry's paintings for free, if you can face down the requests for a donation.
This a no brainer. We were there a couple of years back and it was excellent. They had window frames from the World Trade Center there which were quite haunting. There was also a film which was displayed on several walls at set intervals and it was such an interesting watch about the history of war and not just in the conventional sense. It covered the troubles in Ireland etc, was genuinely a very very interesting watch. Would go back in a heartbeat.

£5 for 4 hours and free entry , hardly extortionate. Sounds very reasonable to me .
