Between 1968 and 1972, the world watched in awe each time an American spacecraft voyaged to the Moon. Only 12 men walked upon its surface and they remain the only human beings to have stood on another world.

In The Shadow Of The Moon brings together for the first, and very possibly the last time, surviving crew members from every single Apollo mission which flew to the Moon, and allows them to tell their story in their own words. Beautifully shot, this riveting first-hand testimony is interwoven with visually stunning archive material which has been re-mastered from the original NASA film footage - much of it never used before.

Amazing documentary.

agreed, hot!

Great film, thanks

Nice one

Thanks

Top film but there's no Neil Armstrong in this. He was only a minor player, anyway.......

I wouldn't mind seeing this..... I always wondered how the producers of the original 'moonwalk' managed to make the desert look so much like the Moon....

I have this saved on Sky+. Great documentary if you're into this sort of thing.

If you like this stuff (who doesn't?!) have a look for the documentaries "When We Left The Earth" which are frankly, brilliant.

Biggest mistake NASA ever made giving the #1 position to Armstrong.

The bloke has a duty to mankind, and certainly the US taxpayer to speak of his experiences in my opinion.

Almost a recluse.

The other brilliant series is 'From the Earth to the Moon'. 13 Episodes introduced by Tom Hanks.

Fascinating insight into Apollo and £18 well spent:

Maybe that's the problem? Maybe they won't let him speak? Maybe he has a conscience?

Armstrong has been a fantastic guy, he kept an aura about him, but recently published his long awaited book although the stories are all the same as every other astronauts. He speaks on anniversaries, he did at the 35th and will on the 40th this year. The other moonwalkers all certainly liked to share their stories about their experiences, there is no shortage of media available.

This is a great documentary, but dosent really offer anything new, my favorite one was For All Mankind which is well worth tracking down if you like these things.

Hang on. Are people saying that, in hindsight, someone with a "Graham Norton" type personallity (i.e. never shuts up!) should have been the first man to walk on the moon, simply so they're always available for interviews?

Maybe Neil Armstrong is shy? Being the first man on the moon is a serious amount of pressure for anyone to endure, give the man a break. Buzz Aldrin has done countless interviews and deserves credit for deflecting the pressure away from Armstrong.

Superb film with lots of footage not seen before, the wooden mockups of the Command Module. If you watch this and don't love Alan Bean and Mike Collins then there is something wrong.

It's out on Blue-ray soon for those interested.

Amazon are pre-selling it at:
