I had a check around, but I couldn't find this model cheaper (please comment if you can). On the lookup for a new washing machine, I'd welcome views on this one!

already have one. works great for me.
It's been a few years, but my last washer was an Indesit, and what can I say; it sort of washed the cloths, and partially spun them dry.

When it died after only a couple of years, I bought a cheap Samsung (~£50-£80 more); it was an eye opener, it washed far, far better, and even though it is only an 1200 spin, and the Indesit was 1400, the cloths come out much drier; in fact some come out almost dry!!

6 years on, it is still just as good, and shows no sign of giving up on me.
Please make sure if you want this to work for more than a year you factor in the additional warranty needed. These things normally only come with parts warranty and call out labour charges are extra it makes a cheap washer become expensive. Same goes for hotpoint. Labour charges are over £100 a time but they will sell you additional warranty to cover this at a £100 a year normally.

they are cheap for a reason
Just a personal opinion but I would look for one with the fastest spin speed possible... 1400 or if poss 1600
and don't buy any extended warranties - they're not worth the paper they're printed on.

That's not always true... My trusty old Hotpoint washer is 15 years old, works like a dream & all its ever had spent on it is £6 for a new belt that I fitted myself 🙄
Good make Indesit but the spin speed could be a little quicker. They last for years though so I've always been happy with Indesit.

Sadly for every good machines there are hundreds of bad ones, and a lot has changed in the last 15 years with them:( hotpoint was a great brand once upon a time, only brand most Brits bought, but they were taken over by Indisit and then it all fell apart. You have to think of poor whirlpool who bought them out a few years ago, bet they didn’t know what was hidden in that company never mind the dryer fiasco.

if you speak to their engineers you will be shocked at the numbers or repairs they do, repeat ones as well. we had one until about 4 years ago and the engineer was out every month it was that bad. You get talking to the guys and they tell you how bad it really is, nothing on review sites can show this. People need to check they see a cheap item and oh it’s got a 10year warranty not realising it’s parts only and then get stung.
I have an Indesit for sale (Stockport)

It's white, 7kg load and less than 2 years old

£60 Cash no offers

I need a larger drum load
great machine. Just taken delivery of one of these as an insurance replacement for my old indesit which lasted 7 years with no issues. The old indesit hadn't broken as such and still worked, the front of the dispenser drawer came off and they couldn't send me a replacement, so they sent me a new washing machine instead!
Happy days!

I would like to get a Samsung, but I can't really find any that are in anything close to this price range. I found an old Ecobubble for £300 from a website, but I don't know whether I should pay the extra.

Really? Wow that's awesome, gives me more confidence about getting this one then if they're willing to replace it even after 7 years.

The eco bubble will blow the Indesit out of the water when it comes to cleaning; and despite what is said above, design triumphs over spin speed; if the drum design is no good, it wont get the water out efficiently, no matter how fast it spins.

My only worry would be that the eco bubble is more complex, so there is more to go wrong; my Sammy is one of the last non-ecobubble machines.

I should also add, it is sooo much quieter than the Indesit, I could never run that at night, the spin would wake me up; the sammy is so quiet that I have had people stood next to it and not realise it was on until it did its "end of program" jingle.

Hmmm... I'm thinking with the warranty, peace of mind and the benefits you mention, it may be worth just paying more now and saving myself labour costs or issues after a year.
