Four in a box, so £1.75 each. This should be mentioned in the description.

King of Mangoes is Alphonso, but nonetheless a good deal.
I do love my Kesar & Chaunsa, apart from Alphonso.

And dare I forget Dussehri (love them too).

Indian Kesar mangoes are nice, Alphonso ones are good too, but the Chausna ones from Pakistan are by far the best.

I always get my mangoes and dates from the Pakistani shop rather than the Indian shop. But pretty much all of my other Asian products from the Indian shop.

Looks like ot's getting harder each year to find Chausna mangoes though.

+1 I also like Pakistani Chaunsa mangoes more than any other mango types.

There are other independent retailers if you want quality ones. They would be priced between £23 to £25 for a 3kg box depending on the variety. I know it is not a better deal but cannot risk spoiled fruit at Asda when paying that kind of price. (edited)

Mangoes go bad from the inside, you can't spot it by looking at the fruit.

I used to get mango boxes from southall. 3 and sometimes 4 boxes for £10
AND THEY USED TO TASTE BETTER (edited)

Pakistani Chaunsa is my fav, i've only tried Indian once but it was a little bitty. However i will try Indian again if i can't find any good Pak Chaunsa ones.. But mangoes are getting more pricier by the year, so finding a good mango is important.

Weren't the Indian mangos banned a while back, because of bugs. Don't think I'd buy mangos that are produced there. They don't taste as nice as other mangos and are not worth the price.
    HellriderUKDeals69's avatar
They were banned for pesticide use.

There are lots of varieties of mangoes some which just don't make it to the UK due to the short season e.g. Langraa and Gulabkhas. (edited)

Tried these from Asda few weeks ago, not great, not sweet in fact slightly bitter from tree sap, even the aroma was of the sap, obviously had no chance to ripen naturally. tried couple of boxes so not just a bad batch.

One I purchased had 5 fruits. It's based on total weight (1kg) so could 4,5 or 6 in the box. (edited)

My favourite is ‘Mankurad’ mangoes from Goa. Looks a good deal to satisfy one’s mango craving.
    Jacinto_Fernandes's avatar
is it season in goa now for mankurad?

So I bought 3 boxes today. The boxes are open so had a quick feel. Each of the boxes I bought had 5 in them, but I think here were other boxes with 6.

Tried one from each box. Quite sweet, quite juicy, firm to the touch. Overall, pretty good, no where near the best I've ever had. Yoh will never get the same quality as you get in India, due to having to import them. In the end, you'd be getting better kesar mangoes from a proper Indian shop.

So proper Indian shops grow them in the UK?
