Released at a time when everything creators Spielberg and George Lucas touched turned to box-office gold, first movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark" exploded onto our screens in 1982. Taking as its inspiration the thrillride Republic serials of the 30s and 40s, it introduced the world to an old-style hero - swashbuckling archaeologist Indiana Jones. For star Harrison Ford, this was his first lead role after giving outstanding support as Han Solo, and he rose to the challenge admirably.

With its 30s setting, globetrotting plot and Nazis-vs-mysticism themes, "Raiders" was soon followed by a similar cocktail in 1984's "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom". Set mostly in India this time, the Nazis are replaced as bad guys by sinister Indian cult the Thuggees, and some thrilling set pieces included a rollercoaster ride through a dangerous abandoned mine.

1989's "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" brought the series to an epic conclusion, with the inspired casting of Sean Connery as Indy's bookbound father. Nazis again imperilled their desperate quest to find the Holy Grail as our heroes chased their way through Venice, Jordan and even Berlin itself, where Indy accidentally bumps into Hitler!

One of modern cinema's genuine classics, the "Indiana Jones" trilogy is well-served by this excellent 4 disc set.

indeed a tip top classic, most likely on sale as the new film comes out reasonably soon.

i have this box set, worth the money definitely and it will probably be another 3 months before being this price again.

it does look a little old now but indiana jones films are part of history, and they should be enjoyed on a big screen, so with tvs being bigger and cheaper than ever before an ideal time to buy it.
