Hi Guys.

OK - be gentle - long term lurker but this is my first time posting on this forum. I hope MikeT doesn't get upset that I beat him to a Dell deal! ;-)

Found what looks to be an excellent deal on a low-end projector:
accessories.euro.dell.com/sna…331

As all I'm looking to use it for is playing the Wii on a grander scale - and the odd Old Firm match - this looks ideal. I'm sure it'll cope with DVDs etc. too, but it's obviously not HD. For £119 though.....

Well got mine now and I'm really pleased.

Hooked it up to the Wii last night, aimed at a big wall and played Mario Kart on a giant screen! Brilliant!

d.

Just to say that i got this delivered today having ordered at 11:30pm on sunday and I am well happy. Son watched Star Wars this afternoon in a light room, with a velox and thought he was at the cinema ( al be it in a light room) and i have just finished watching 300.

Star wars was run off a portable dvd player and 300 from my Archos , have yet to try the Wii..

So for £107. delivered , yes its not high def but sound is good and watching a film at 8 feet wide i dont think you miss the detail. Especially if you are watching 700mb rips anyway!

My advice, go for it.

Hey rwilts.

Did you buy a screen or are you pointing it at a wall? If you bought a screen, does it make much of a difference?

I'm pointing it at a wall - just want to know if it's worth the outlay of some more cash!

Cheers,

d.

the replacement bulb would prob cost u a 100 quid

I just tried the coupon
V67PLN7VPCN4DM
and got another £12 or so off.

I was going to go for a medium-expensive projector (Optoma HD65) but (a) I don't have the room to set it up (b) I want to take it on holiday and don't want to lug around speakers as well (c) it's principally for entertaining the kids and they aren't fussy especially when I'm only plugging in a Wii. (D) at £107 delivered who's moaning?

heat and rep added. Cheers!

£50, which is very good value compared to most others.

fwiw, I've not gone for this deal but my new phone contract includes a PS3 and one of these projectors. If anyone's got one yet, any feedback?

I looked into this a while ago, and they were around £60 for this projector online...not sure how long the bulbs last though?

Good deal

use Quidco for a further 4% cashback (£3.65) bringing the price down to £103.64

Here's also a youtube video: ]http//ww…ds0

Is it possible to connect this to a 19" Samsung Digital TV?

Couldn't resist - not at that price

Here's a review

bulb life is 1000 hours. It has component, s-video, and composite inputs so should be fine for connecting most things.

I guess I must be dumb.... but why would you want to connect a display unit to a display unit?

The only thing I can think of is if he has freeview or a HD built in.

I can't work out why this was posted 3 weeks ago, yet most of the comments are from today. Had it expired for a while?

maybe someone voted it hot so it went above the threadhold to appear on the "hot" list?

Can one actually control how big one wants the image to be with these? i.e. does one have to move the projector or is there some other adjustment?

There's a review here:

projectorreviews.com/inf…php

Oddly enough i'm quite impressed, will look at maybe buying this tomorrow. I'm quite fussy with TVs etc, but TBH for the amount it costs and considering it's only really gonna be used for the Wii, 360 and the occasional DVD it's a bargain! As long as the picture quality isn't terrible i'm sure it'll fill the void until i can sensibly fund a good plasma, and it beats using a 14" portable CRT (good PQ, but just WAY too small and it suffers some red bleed).

Does anybody know where you can get the replacement bulbs from ?

worth a punt at that silly price. cheers op

I hope everyone is using the attached voucher to get it for £107.

Easy. Move it nearer the wall to make it smaller, further away to make it bigger.

To answer a few questions,

I am using it against a grey wall - No screen and the picture is fine. I certainly wouldnt splash any more cash and buy a screen .

You have to move the projector to set the size. I have it at the end of the room projecting onto the far wall and get about 8foot wide picture.

I watched Juno with the wife the other night and she was well impressed.

Sound is good. Not surround or anything , but as the projector is behind me and loud enough its a good experience.

You can get a watchable picture late afternoon, but once it gets dark its at its best.

Slight hum of the fan is noticable if you listen for it during quiet times in movie, but as with most things ( v+ , Plasma etc..) you soon block it out/ignore def not an issue.

Hope that helps.

O i got it for £107. with code and Quidco is Validated at £3.65

Just ordere mine.

Paid £104 (get a little extra discount working for a dell partner ).

I think for the price this is a brilliant deal. I bought my first projector a few months ago. It's HD but I'm sure most people who take this deal will upgrade to HD on their next purchase.

how big is the projector?? I so want one (not bothered about hd just want a big screen on the cheap) but i'm moving to Australia soon so dunno if its worth shipping it over there plus i've gotta save as well boooooo!!

As one poster has already stated that you cannot focus the unit, how far away from the wall are others using it? I'm only concerned as my front room isn't huge, say 15ish feet wide...

The review says you get a 100" picture when the projector is 12'6" from the screen/wall, and half that size at half that distance, so you can more or less figure out what size picture you are going to get from that...

Just ordered mine!.

Just realised, this will be hi def with a 360 plugged in!.

No it wont, although it's accepts up to 1080i, the projector will downscale to it's native resolution.

99 day warranty is rather lousy, almost illegal, though I suppose dell is responsible for seeing it lasts a reasonable length of time though it may be fun getting them to realize that.

All in all I'm very tempted. It does fill a niche that if you want a basic projector. They also claim to be producing a mirror attachment that will put the picture on the ceiling so you can watch/play while lying in bed! Hopefully its the start of a trend and we will be seeing lots of £100 projectors soon.

Boo!, no hi def. Hey, what can you expect for £100.

Hi, does anyone know if you can hook this up to a laptop to do Powerpoint presentations?

Just ordered( order delayed). Estimated delivery date 8 August. Seems the stock has run out.

If your laptop outputs s-vid then yes.

Regarding PC input - there isn't a traditional computer port. But some on line reviews i read mention converter cables if it is important.

There is a focus ring on it so that once you have 'set' the size by physicaly positioning it you can then 'focus' the image.

The image is 4:3 , it says that it supports widscreen but i am yet to see anything apart from a 4:3 image that only has picture in middle if playing WS film, if that makes sense.
