You can get the automatic version for not much more, but as with most chinese made watches you are probably better off with the quartz.

The movement is probably a Seagull movement, which are usually really good. Their ST19 and 21 are absolute workhorses.

I've heard these have terrible case quality though

If you say so. It's pretty obvious that it's not a chronograph though, the absence of any chronograph dials is a bit of a giveaway.
