For those in need of the latest and greatest (or like me have an oculus or vive about to ship) this seems to be the best deal around (if you can call it a deal!).

I'm still using a DK2 at the moment but desperately want a Vive for Pool Nation VR.
It's missing a few big name titles but overall the Vive software catalogue looks much more interesting.
Pool Nation VR does look amazing tbh, been waiting for the opportunity to bottle my mates in VR.
I ordered this

amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1

I'm hoping it will come close to a 1080/
How does this 1080 gtx compare to others - any benchmarks? Also is the 2nd year on the warranty is that return to OC or back to manufacture which I believe is in HK?

1080 is around 20% better than the 1070, but costs an extra £200. It isn't cost effective, but it is the best thing on the market.
GTX 1080 is ~20% more performance than a GTX 1070 and this is 47% price up from the 1070 listed above.

Too much for me.

Which is not in stock....I can post links to cheaper GTX 1080 cards that are also not in stock!

unfortunately so.
Best I can see that is actually purchasable atm is this:

Really want one but can't justify moving from 980ti. 1080ti will be day one for me though.

It's more like ~30% , with early drivers, in games and DX12 games that can take advantage arent really about yet.
I could have picked up a 1080 for exactly 575 about 2 weeks ago. Just not worth it compared to a cheaper and only slightly weaker 1070. I'm expecting cheaper prices within next 2-3 months after the 'drought' is over.

You're right. an OC ti would easily compete with a 1080 stock.
This card is a very basic GTX 1080 model, hence the low price.

A 980 Ti overclocked can not reach the performance of a 1080.

Blimey - good work. From what I saw on the current overclocked cards the improvements were minimal and with my oculus shipping it forced my hand - never spent so much on a card before and unlikely to again!

Your forgetting that basically all 1080's overclock to a similar level unless you luck out and get a crap card. So the more expensive ones can be easily matched normally.

You're forgetting that without a decent cooler, your overclock will quickly encourage throttling and, in some cases, excessive fan noise (as they are used to higher speeds).

I've seen various users reporting that both Inno 3D and Gainward coolers are excellent and very quiet, and that they overclock well.

But it does compete with it. 10-20fps is a close margin. I still believe the 1080 is insanely hyped for what it can actually do. Sure in VR it will kill any other card before it, but that's VR.

An OC 980ti if brought cheap (Let's say £200-£300) is easily the better option here. Now if the 1080 price can go to normal levels, it's worth it.
the ichill x3 inno3d model actually out performs a asus strix, so yeah, pretty damn good value

10-20 fps is a massive gap. Thats more than 20% +-. A minimal gain would be 2-4 fps.
It's a brilliant card. So nice to play everything on ultra. Totally changes the look and feel of the game. I know £500 is a lot to pay.

Nearly £600 in this case, £700+ for some models!

But like you, £576 for such a card is worth it to me
I used to have a golden rule to spend no more than £300 on GFX cards. But, for the 1080, a flagship release, £500ish is justifiable.
I have to agree with the comments above. Card arrived today. Swapped out two Radeon 7900 cards from about 3 years ago which were as noisy as ****. This is near silent and absolutely smashes my old setup. Quick go on Witcher 3 with the settings way up on my 21:9 34 inch monitor and it was stunning to look at.

Oculus delivered tomorrow - woop!
