    This or 3060 Ti

It depends man, this seems a good price but if you're running 1440p you'll want 3070 ti + I'd say (edited)

If you ain't too bothered about the DLSS and Ray Tracing side of things, here's a good comparison of the RTX3060, the RTX3060Ti and the RX6650XT. CCL have the gigabyte Eagle triple fan RX6650Xt for around £320 atm, also on amazon similar price, delivered, so a lot of value in it at same price as the RTX3060, whilst easily outperforming it and often getting close to the 3060ti. Obviously game dependant, as always, but a good mix of titles. Is The Raytracing worth the extra £100 or more? Hope it helps someone out, maybe.

This sits bang in the middle of all the 3060s, nothing special but it beats the Palit dual posted recently. Spend £20 or £25 more you can have the slightly better Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 12GB EAGLE V2 or OC version. (edited)

Inno3D is a Palit, rebadged, as is KFA2, Galax and Gainward. They are literally identical.

    £314 3060 new..... or ~£270 for a 1080ti used.

    + ~10% cheaper
    + ~40% faster.
    - used
    - no RT

Today's new GPU market is still complete

Saw a 6700xt used listed for £325 with free postage. Much better deal than that 1080 if used is where you're looking

Still a horrible time to be a PC gamer right now fron a hardware value for money perspective
    Avatar
Hardware value is great except GPUs. DDR4 is now dirt cheap and will linger on another couple years thanks to Intel supporting it as an option and great value still yet to be had in AMD's AM4. PSU and motherboard are meh. Storage is dirt cheap. CPU for gaming also dirt cheap. So many new cases entering the market that look great with tempered glass side panel. Thermalright and Arctic are making huge waves in the cooler market, giving NH-D15-level performance for less than half the price. 144Hz FHD monitors can be had for the same price as a last gen i3.

Just waiting for GPUs to come down, really. (edited)

What a joke that the 3060 is still 300+ lmao

Is this an upgrade over the GTX 1070? I game at 4k and use VR (Rift S) a lot.
I'm thinking I should wait for the RTX 4060 but my budget is £400 and I'm worried if the prices go back up.
    Avatar
Yeah this is medium upgrade, will be better at both 4k and VR but gains won’t be massive. Check what the used prices are for 2070s and 3060ti. Probably can get a used 3070 for less than 400.

rx6600xt are the very best value if you can find a decent second hand at no more than £200.
  9. Avatar
Even £200 is expensive for this old thing nowadays
  10. Avatar
That's almost a decent price what's going on?
    Avatar
Old stock possibly, 4060 coming soon so unless they are charging £500+ for those cards the 3060s going to look daft above 300 soon I'd guess.
  11. Avatar
Doesn’t seem much of deal to me tbh. Pretty poor performance for £300, just buy a used 10 or 20 series. I have a 3070 FE and the DLSS and RT functions really aren’t worth the extra. DLSS often results in blur which is really irritating and takes away from modern graphics. RT looks like when actually integrated but doesn’t add much other than heavily reducing performance.

Most Nvidia cards tend to skimp on VRAM meaning they will run low on VRAM long before they run out grunt. The 3060Ti/3070/3070Ti all having 8GB and the 3080 only having 10GB/12GB being prime examples. 8GB was a GTX 1070 or a RT 480 had years ago. The 3090 and 4090 being the obvious exceptions.

These 12GB 306 are the opposite: a card with a decent amount of VRAM. Still think the 12GB 6700X strikes a better balance between memory and grunt though.
    Avatar
Yeah it's so weird. If the 3060ti had 12gb I'd be on it, same if the RTX3070 had a 12gb varient.

Ofcourse I know it's got something to do with slower VRAM being cheaper (and therefore an easier way to get "better" specs on paper). But it seems strange.

In your opinion can the 12gb 6700x handle 4k gaming and VR? I'm currently making do (just about) with an GTX 1070.

    Heat added, thanks for sharing!

This, or a used 2070 super for £200, or keep using the 980ti and wait a few months for the newer cards? (edited)
    Avatar
Where are you seeing used 2070 super at just 200? The sold ones on eBay are in the 250-300 range (edited)
