can someone please tell me how this compares to the samsung offer from argos?

samsung will be better build quality. Dell use poor materials and the stuff breaks down.

Give Dell outlet a go:

The machines are refurbished but I've bought about 5 now and they have all been very good:

This machine is currently £255 +VAT ....

I'd be interested to know how you came to this conclusion.

The samsung laptop is good, i bought it the other week, needing a laptop for general use, internet, documents etc. Works a treat. Good quality build. Good trackpad on it. The extra's are a sure fire bonus.

might be a little subjective - I have bought a lot of laptops in the past - inspiron I bought last year lasted just 13 months. The problems were common and well documented on the web. I've had other laptops last years and years. Dell are built on "pile em high" and don't focus at all on quality.

I have reserved one already, I am picking it up today

just wondered how it compares to Dell, as I thought Dell were a better make, obvioulsy not then!

Ashtad ,You'll have to go here and search for 1545 in the selection filters at top of page, then click the price filter...8th laptop down
outlet.euro.dell.com/top…dfh

You need to work you way through the filter on the link page, select notebooks first as link is iffy

Hassony, I've used Dell's at my work for a while. Samsung and Dell are pretty much the same build quality and as good as each other really. It just comes down to presonal preference with them. I've not once thought since buying the Samsung that i should of bought a Dell anyway.

Our newest Dell is a bit flimsy (don't know how it compares to other new laptops), and both the older ones were sturdy but had problems with the power connector breaking after about four years (the part where you plug in the power cord into the computer). But buy the warranty -- they have the best warranty out there, and the computers are otherwise great. I'll be buying another Dell laptop sometime this year.

thanks

I am tempted by the refurbished one that twinke posted

the samsung 3 years warranty is a big turn on though

I would rather have the new Inspiron 15 model with Core i3 for £399 - it also has HDMI:

- Simon.

Yes it was a "scratch and dent" but gone now!

There are a few nice Inspiron 1545 laptops on the outlet just now - £250+vat for 3GB ram, 250GB hard drive and dual core T3400 cpu, LED screen and webcam.

what is an LED screen?

They are thinner and lighter and brighter than 'normal' CCFL screen and don't need an inverter
