Was thinking of getting this. Are they that bad. I still use a Sony Vaio laptop , really need to get a new one.

It crashed, they tried repairing remotely, no go, so it was sent back for repair, came back, halfway through setting it up again, crashed with same error message. Dell want to go through the remote procedure again and if that fails send it back again. I only bought it in September and have not been able to use it since 17 Dec. It’s now in the hands of the court

ive had a Dell Latitude E5530 for a few years now and its great... just one of the hinges has broken and I'm not spending £100 as it's so out of date now.. but that's the only reason I'm looking for another.. I had a Dell desktop before that too, and it was fine
I bought this model last year, and have had no issues whatsoever, it's run faultlessly without a single hiccup. From my point of view, I'd say "go for it"!

Are the keys backlit and whats the sound quality/volume like? Cheers nam
To counter the negative reviews, I've had Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series for 2,5 years now with no issues, I've also had Dell Inspiron 15R Special edition for 3 years prior to that and I've had no issues either other than keyboard paint rubbing off from use on some buttons lol
Thanks
Still have a Dell Inspiron 17R few years old. Trackpad was rubbish right from the start, replaced by Dell at home for free under warranty. But still useless. The engineer said it was normal for Dell trackpad to be like that! Got fed up and left it. Worst track pad I have ever used. Loads of similar posts on Dell forum few years ago. Don't know if they have improved. A £5 wireless mouse was gazillion times better than the rubbish trackpad. My HP Spectre 360 is awesome on comparison. Was looking at this since cheaper for my child. Hoping that the trackpad is atleast in this century standards by now by Dell.

Build quality wasnt the greatest, with lot of flex next to the trackpad giving false presses due to the flex. Hinge wasn't the greatest either. Hopefully they have improved over the last few years. This was a 17R Inspiron model.

Is this a touchscreen model. Can't make out on the Dell website

Actually the Vaio I have has been running strong for years, never had any problems with it.
After the Windows 10 update it has slowed down massively. Hence why I need a new one.

So they want to fix it for you but you instead waste time taking them to court? Let us know how that works out for you.

Very likely a lot better. Repeated failures suggest manufacturing fault. However if the company had any sense they would replace, take it back and repair then resell.
