I know I'm in the minority but this beats all other versions for same room multi-player in my opinion.

Whilst amazing at the time, the SNES version is horrendous now. Wii onwards there's just too much going on.

I'll give it second, double dash IMO is the best local multiplayer
Want a HD remake
I still find it ridiculous they've not made these playable/compatible on the switch, the whole e-store wii-u catalogue should be playable on the switch.

Forgot about DD, certainly didn't play enough of it unfortunately.

100% agree, played Mario kart 64 at a arcade place the other week, whilst the graphics have not aged well, easily the best, moved onto the switch one, better with 4 player grand prix, but mk64 always the best in my eyes! Didn't enjoy double dash personally..

Yes Double Dash for me too - loved that one!

They've got a few others at this price such as Mario 64. Just search for wii u.

Yep agree with that, but I'd happily play either with 3 mates

But then poor family run Nintendo only gets your money once
Wait, someone actually still owns WII U?

Third for me, Mario Kart Wii was an underrated gem. DD has to take top spot though.

Would buy this if they did it for switch
I didn’t know people still buy VC games on Wii U

I’ve got MK64 downloaded on the original Wii. How about that? Just started playing Wii MK again with kids
Unpopular opinion: Mario kart 64 has not aged well. I think CTR is the best kart racer of that gen.

I do, it’s got a great library of games and I don’t fancy re-buying them all at ridiculous prices again on the switch.
I have the switch in my living room and the Wii u in my bedroom.

I thought like you and then I actually played one and prefer it to the switch
I’m embarrassed to admit to how much I paid for this with the ‘free’ controller on the original n64
for the same price or less you can buy a cold boot haxchi compatible game

Yep, strange for me as Road Rash is still playable, but the original Mario Kart is just too painful.

You're kidding right? I had a go of Road Rash 2 on the Mega Drive Mini the other day and the framerate was 15fps. It was difficult to anticipate corners.

Super Mario Kart actually has technical tracks with their narrowness and penalizes you for veering off track.
New maps would be appreciated in a remake, as the maps although interesting ideas were dull to play. Even Toads Turnpike driving through cars got dull eventually, but a remake would surely be the best.

Keep Bowser map as that was pure genius, Frappe Snowland, Jungle Parkway and maybe Yoshi's Valley.

Haven't really played newer Mario Karts but battle mode was great on Mario Kart 64.

Very nice - My Wii was ALAWAYS modded, since day 1; so I always played the new releases. Never played the VC games (My Wii U is also)

Totally agree with what you're saying, but including Double Dash as well! Me and friends play the wii u version every now and again and we much prefer to play on the N64 version or the Gamecube! With those you can even watch their parts of the screens to play tactical, like firing green shells behind you. Wii u version you don't get a chance!

Yes. Quite a few top games on the Switch are just ports of Wii U titles and you can get them on Ebay for around a 3rd of the price. I have got both Switch and Wii U and in the house the Wii U gets used more. The Wii U also has backwards compatability with Wii games and controllers.
In my eyes the Wii U is by far a better product in terms of build quality, reliability and backwards compatibility. We have all 3 consoles - Wii, Wii U and Switch. So far the Switch has had the USB-C port replaced, the docking station is temperamental and the control pads are drifting. Not happy with the Switch in terms of build quality but as for practicality it's good. Why on earth did they release the Switch Lite is beyond me :/

The Wii U wins overall IMO. It's also a shame that 3rd party developers didn't commit to this console as this would've been a major hit if they did

You had trouble anticipating corners in Road Rash but not Mario Kart? Road Rash has long sweeping corners and Mario Kart has turns coming out of nowhere. Road Rash is on narrow roads and punishes you for colliding with cars... or animals... or road signs

If this is a 90's playground Sega Vs. Nintendo argument just know I had neither although I did have the first Road Rash on the Amiga. Road Rash 3 is genuinely impressive and I'm surprised they didn't include it on the Mega Drive mini.
