I don't use Steam loads... how could I gift this to someone??

I don't think there's a way to gift the link in the way you can via Steam. They just give you a key code to copy/paste into a Steam client, so when you pay for the key you aren't linking it to your Steam account straight away. I guess you would be able to give the key to someone else...

They cost me nothing because I don't buy games that require them or buy them in games that have them . You are close to hitting the nail on the head though, "they still exist because people excuse them" , nope they still exist because people are willing to pay for them, so in a world where cash is king you not paying for them is pretty irrelevant.

To explain what I mean, for me I like a complete experience for a game, (perfectionism or whatever), so I would likely but DLCs in order to do so. (Assuming that the game it's not abusing of DLCs).

But with micro transactions, you pay to advance in the game, or you progress slowly, which ruins the balancing of the game. So there is no way to get a proper or complete gaming experience.

Plus there is no upper limit for micro transactions, unlike DLCs. So £100s.

I won't tell you guys what to do with your money. But I'm not going to fund industry practices like this.

In terms of those complaining, I think it's a case of you are either for or against loot crates in a game you've already paid for. Nobody is here to change another person's view on this, I just personally find it unacceptable and will vote with my wallet. Those who like the concept are ensuring (by purchasing the game and currency) there will be more games with this type of system in the future.I hope you enjoy the game when it's out!

HoboHouseParty52 m ago

Because of the precedent it sets. There's been an insidious creep of …Because of the precedent it sets. There's been an insidious creep of micro transactions/loot boxes etc in full price games which many people find worrying. However "optional" they appear to be at first, if publishers think they can milk even more money from people you can be sure they'll find ways to make micro transactions more tempting - just look at NBA 2K18, its a full price game with a straight up mobile game economy. They made the single player such a grind that you practically have to spend more money to get your character to improve enough! That system is in there purely because they thought they could get away with it, but thankfully there's a massive backlash against 2K for it so hopefully they won't try it again.I'm not trying to change your opinion on it, just pointing out why so many people, myself included are against the practice. They seem optional now, but if more and more people just shrug and say "whatever, don't buy it" and accept them, then the more likely we'll see publishers pushing for them in games that simply shouldn't need them, or worse, purposely turning the game into more of a grindfest to make the micro transactions more tempting.

im not pro-microtransactions/p2w, i never pay for anything, except for in one game which is free to play anyway and for the time i put into it i didnt see a problem dropping £20. I personally do not even like pre-scheduled DLC, season passes on release etc, developers expect you to pay full price for a game which isnt even complete then charge you £30 for the rest and alot of people are happy to do that. i even hate skin packs, mainly because they are always fugly.

I do vote with my wallet and if i feel a loot system is even slightly incidious in this game i wont be buying, the devs have said it wont be so i am happy to wait and see, that is the best i can do. However not playing a game purely because it has micro-transactions is OTT, they are the future unfortunatly and for every 3 people who will purposefully avoid a game there is 1 willing to dump a tonne of money into it. I wouldnt touch 2K with a barge pole, adversely GTA 5 is still adding great content thanks to micro transactions, the precedent was set years ago and now it is standard.

I doubt the price drop is due to "whiny entitled gamers" or whatever the buzzword for them currently is.

Price is going down because it doesn't include the preorder bundle anymore (cosmetic and treasure maps etc)

Would hold fire on this TBH. Many of the Paid members are unhappy that this didn't get included as it is DLC and are cancelling their subscriptions. It would seem that the common line of thought is they are going to sting as many people as possible before making this free or included in the Paid for Sub. Service.

Many many games out there at the moment so for me I'm going to wait and see.
I expect the price drop is because of the negative reaction by many of the gamer's (like myself) who have stuck with it since the very start. Tempting and no doubt a good "Expansion" but its cheap for a reason.

The cdkeys was better value, Stupidly didn't buy it
It's got more tracks (so called than dirt rally) and has dirts handling which can be changed to arcade.
It ticks the boxes for me due to having more disciplines.
Dirt was excellent but very unforgiving but I honestly can't wait for this, codemasters seem to be on another level atm with there driving games (F1 2016, dirt rally).
I'd be surprised this to fail in the slightest.
They are doing what's important and listening to fans.
Dirt was early access for that reason and the last 2 f1 games they had private beta's.
Wouldn't normally post pre-orders but that's how confident I am

You can use pirated/decrypted DLC with legit copies of the game on PC (so … You can use pirated/decrypted DLC with legit copies of the game on PC (so I heard!) so you could always do that and then at least you've thrown some money BioWare's way, plus you should also be able to unlock DLC achievements on Origin. The situation with the DLC for these games is ridiculous, though. I think I've previously worked out that it would cost something like £80 to get all DLC across all three games, because it's never come down in price over the years, is hardly ever on sale, they've never done any sort of complete bundles for any of the three games or the trilogy and you have to buy BioWare points to buy the DLC and they're never on sale either, plus you'll have to buy more than you need because you have to buy them in certain amounts. Pretty crazy for a popular series of games that are now 10, 7 and 5 years old, respectively.

I don't even think the dlc for bioware ME games are even on Origin anymore, don't you have to by it from the bioware own site now.

Shventz

For those looking to play these, they had Mass Effect 2 for free on … For those looking to play these, they had Mass Effect 2 for free on Origin a couple weeks back - so I downloaded it, not sure if its still on the free games list but worth checking. From my memory of playing a bit of ME1 and all of ME2 and ME3 the first time around on xbox360, I think ME2 was the best. Also, download the ALot textures mod as mentioned above. Its a bit of a fiddle to install, but its free and updates a large portion of the game textures to modern standards - holds up pretty well.

There is the ''ALot texture packs'', what he failed to mention is the absurd amount of time it'ill take you to install them: (1 day, possibly longer if you own a potato), and the difference they make is small, dont belive the waffle. Just get the ''Gampad mod, ENB and Reshade and enjoy.

Ah, I was looking at the PS4 score of the game.

I agree that the review system is flawed, but Mass Effect is being scored fairly I feel, it's a 7.5 to 8 depending on where the story goes. I only played 10 years and I couldn't help but feel disappointed throughout that time

This took 5 years of development and the publishers tend to pull to strings to get more positive reviews, I'm sure the overall review score will drop, it's already at 75, not 78. 75 is a good score for a smaller games, games you have lower expectations from made by a much smaller team. Taking the budget, time spent in development, the fact a huge developer is making this into midn, an average score is poor for a game you expect scores around 90 from. I will bet you anything Bioware were aiming for scores around 90 when they were making this. Which means something has gone very wrong in the development. I did actually play it. It's all over the place, the story, the dialogue and the squadmates are bland at best. They were great games, very well put together and balanced. You should get around to playing them if you can, they still hold up well. Well, not the first one, but the other two are still great.

Since when is a 78 critic score bad?

It's bad for a Triple A title. Especially a Mass Effect title.
If you think otherwise compare the sales numbers in a few weeks.

Don't get me wrong I'm the biggest ME fan but Andromeda just isn't cut from the same cloth. Maybe it's down to all the original talent leaving the studio but its a Mass Effect game in name/assets only imo. None of the heart is there.
