i got 512 GB through amazon cockup at the warehouse when it was for 9 quid. read speed as advertised but write is like choaking between 0-30-40MB/s something wrong with controller I think, or perhaps it's just my unit.

Do they get hot? If so I guess that explains the write speeds.

I didn't notice that, but I can't confirm right now because it's with my mate atm.
I got the 512Gb too,it's painfully slow. For £9 it's fine, if I'd paid more I would have returned it.

Hot&Bot.
Anyone know of any reasonably priced USB flash drives, with a real world 50MB/s+ write speed?

Bought that exact one and I can confirm it is very slow. NTFS formatted, takes ages to mount and when copying files at least 10 secs are spent preparing for the copy, which never happens with my other sticks.

Cheaper to get recertified hdd
Arrived, it’s faster than my NAS so happy, but then again my router is a NightHawk and it’s fast.
