First deal - please be kind!

With lots of new posts for N54l Microservers I thought I'd share. Got my N54L running happily with 16GB of memory.

List of working memory is listed at:
n40l.wikia.com/wik…ory

Saw that cheap non ECC memory works well and found these. Bought 2 (via TCB of course), picked up the next day, ensured they worked and then updated the Wiki

I've been running this for 10 days now with 16Gb showing up on the Microserver every time I reboot and have also had no problems with this.

On a different note in case anyone decides to pick up one of these at the same time...
The ATI 6450 card that Currys/PC World sells does not come with a low profile adapter despite the description claiming otherwise so is not suitable for the Microserver.

You can get cheaper 1600mhz ram that's backwards compatible and it has all the extra stuff like heatsinks + flashing lights.

The Microservers can be fussy with which memory works. They also have limited room so heatsinks may need to be hacked off. It's been done before and it doesn't look pretty or good for the warranty.

Yeah there is enough room for some heatsinks as I took the mobo out yesterday to add in another stick of ram (rams like corshair xms3, which is cheaper than the one posted above)

The heatsinks in the pic are massive so thats kinda void lol.

Something like this is more suitable:

Its completely up to the person buying the ram.

I managed to nab an identical 2gb stick on ebay for £4.40 which is running fine since I installed it last night.

Cool - please can you confirm that 16GB works with these modules and to share a link to the cheaper modules. I would also be good to update the Wiki at n40l.wikia.com/wik…ory.

Saw this deal when I posted althought not expired, clicking the link shows that the price has gone up.

As for confirming 16gb compatibility:

Serverplus sell a 16gb bundle.

This thread mentions 16gb not being supported but works, there are also several handy links in there too.

16Gb (as 2x8Gb) has worked but not all 8Gb sticks appear to function so its not officially supported. Best going with ones on that wikia link posted earlier or trawling past deals on here that mention them working in these Microservers.

No 16Gb setup is officially supported but I have tested the memory listed in this deal in my N54L. I had already added this memory to the Wikia link before posting. Also had a good search for other 8Gb modules or 16Gb pairs that are known to work without any luck but didn't find anything as cheap.

Yeah prices have gone through the roof. On 6th March, I paid 23.36 for TWO Adata Premier Series 4GB DDR3 U-DIMM Memory Module (AD3U1333C4G9-S). They are now 24.65 each on Amazon!!!

And yes they work fine in my N54L. A single one even plays nicely with the stock 2Gb ECC one reporting 6Gb in total despite these not being ECC.

Interesting. Anyone got any links to cheap ECC memory that's compatible and reported to have no problems?

This is the RAM that I've been planning to use alongside the standard 2GB: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/components-upgrades/memory/desktop-memory-dimm/integral-in3t4gnz-pc3-10600-ddr3-pc-memory-4-gb-dimm-ram-19430659-pdt.html

According to PC-World this module also has ECC

Even though the pc world website says it has ecc, when you search the ram model number it is non-ecc. So im pretty sure the pc world description is incorrect.
