Not the K, but still, brilliant price considering recent silly price gouging from other retailers.

Yes, but you can still place an order at that price.

Is it possible to bclk overclock on these? Like the skylakes.

Providing that your motherboard can, then yes.

Thanks jono8 - been waiting for Amazon to have these, might delay starting my build and sell the 8400 if this look like it is gong to dispatch soonish.

Ordered too, will suffice as a stop gap until the k is available at its normal price,

Great price.

This is a "stop gap" CPU for you?

Or you could get a Ryzen 7 which is actually in stock.

Good price, but it's worth mentioning that the B360 motherboards to complement this non-oc'able chip won't be available until Q1 2018.

this is a win-win idea. Not only is it a stop gap, when the K comes out he gets to Upgrade his CPU! How often do we get to do that on an intel platfrom?

would love to by your 8400

Anyone know if this is compatible with Intel Z270 Gaming motherboard?

Thinking about just waiting until Black Friday/Cyber Monday for a hopeful good deal on i7 6700/6700K/7700/7700K.

Nope, not compatible with Z270, you need a Z370 or B360 when they become available

Alright, thanks for the help.

buying a non-k version is like publicly admitting your impotent - shameful behaviour

Yeah it worked on skylake but after that intel blocked it for the next generation (kabbylake) for all the non k chips.
The most you can do now on blck is 103 which is basically nothing go any higher and chip will not boot.

thank you, just ordered and heat added. Cheapest yet, cheapest prior to now was £290.

oh well its still a good deal cheaper than anywhere else Like i said will use until the K is available at a sane price then will wither flip this or return to Amazon as 'faulty' ;).

Tbh tempted to sell my 8400 and plonk this in instead.

I have the 8400, its a great little chip, but I ordered this as soon as I saw it. My thinking was that an i7 would give me an extra 1 maybe 2 years over an i5, which would more than make up for the ~£80 more compared to the 8400.

The availability of the 8th series is still such that you can sell them at cost or even slightly above if you got a good deal!

Ive seen 8400's go on eBay for £205.

Also, that deal is no longer available!

Damn you

BT Updated me with December 6th as a new stock date. Original dates were 20th November, 22nd November and 24th November. I would imagine it's similar for amazon.

Amazon have removed the "in stock date" from their site.

I've spoken to a few of their CS folks, and they are equally clueless as to when it will be in stock.

I've complained enough to have been given £5 off and 30 days free prime so far. I wonder if by the end of it they will give me a free CPU....

FYI - mine has just been dispatched and seems to be coming from Germany - on its way and arriving Wednesday apparantely.

Still nothing for me. No estimated date or any updates whatsoever.

Still nothing here either, I think another email is in order!

Im sure you will get them guys. Presumably stock is still in short supply and they are just fulfilling them in the order that they were ordered (mine arrived yesterday).

Still nothing from Amazon and I'm close to cancelling - my local computer place has the 8700 oem in stock for £319.99.

Contacted Amazon again and they're still clueless, so I gave up and cancelled. Picked one up from Novatech on the way home today.
