idk, I always felt this was a bit overpriced given it's a CPU, motherboard and a power supply. You need to buy your own RAM and storage, so the minimum price for a well-equipped one of these is still £600+ (16GB RAM, 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD), and that still doesn't include a GPU or eGPU enclosure which'll add maybe £400 to the price. If you really value size it's probably worth spending £1000 setting up one of these, but if not...

Is there another small-ish PC with TB3 and a cheaper price tag?

*edit* Maybe I was wrong about this being expensive compared to equivalents, though it's still expensive compared to a full size PC:
i7 dual cores are all I can find, slightly more expensive too: amazon.co.uk/Gig…MRU

This will be replaced by Hades Canyon in Q2 2018 and expected to feature AMD graphics.

Right on time this................
"for those who like it in a small black box"

I think I may have watched too many Carry On films this Christmas.
Thanks for the post good comments interesting thread.

I will still likely go for better Ryzen Apu laptop soon even though I could hook something like this up to a telly.
I have this and paid a good deal more for it around a year ago. Hooked up to two 4K monitors it's perfectly adequate and obviously a very small form factor. Added an SSD and 16gb memory as they are bare bones kits. Think it ended up a grand at the time. Runs office, videos snappy enough.

It's kind of in a niche of it's own. It's hard to create a small build like that yourself that delivers the same kind of power. Would be ideal as a media centre or even attached to the back of a monitor.

It's definitely a niche product, but this is a good price given what it has sold for over the last year.

If you’re only using it for office and cat videos you need to take a look at yourself.

Nah, I got it because I got fed up of the slow responses on an old laptop, this thing is tiny and at the time was very highly specce'd for the form factor. Just checked the order and I put in 32GB of HyperX Impact DDR4 RAM - so more than I recall. I got the NUC for £569 back in August 2016.

All I know is it extremely quick, no slowness with loads of tabs open, office suite and some of the non office apps like visio etc - whilst running a video in the background. Like I say I have it hooked upto 2 4k monitors and it serves me well as a work/home PC. I wont need to swap it for a few years yet.

So this is a good deal price wise for what you get if you are after an extremely small form factor PC

I wanted one as a mini video editing rig that is nice and portable. But missed out on this price, I'm a bit annoyed to say the least!

Would have done some 1080p editing (and potentially some 4K basic timeline stuff) with no bother.

Disappointed I didn't see this earlier! ARRGGGH
