Both of these laptops are £599. 1 may POSSIBLY have a hd-dvd drive, its most likely a mis-print though, so phone them up or visit your local store.

Can anyone confirm if this actually has a HD-DVD drive?

No it hasn't. The only true HD DVD player is a Toshiba standalone version which is £450. This facility won't be in a laptop for a year or so yet at minimum IMHO.

I dont think it will take that long for HD DVD drives to be available in laptops.

Sony already have a couple of Blu-Ray laptops out already.

not sure if its a true HD DVD player but the HP DV9092EA has an HD DVD drive & HDMI port

This model is cheapest @ John Lewis at the moment, PCW = £1600, JL = £1400 and that is without any kickbacks

Well ****** me, how fast technology develops!

I stand corrected - laptops with any form of HD DVD drive are £1500 upwards and anything less than £1k must be a mis-price.

I can't believe how few PC Graphics cards have HDMI out.

The acer farrari also has a hd-dvd. Again it's around the £1500 mark.
