I find CEX confusing. It smells like a public urinal but they sell games.

What's worse is that literally every CEX smells the same, like they pump …What's worse is that literally every CEX smells the same, like they pump it in there on purpose...

It's probably something to do with their prices which often take the p*ss

Good find. As much as I don’t like CeX really, they do have a good selection of CPUs and RAM for slightly older machines which is very handy at times - and even they can’t really mess up testing CPUs or RAM (works or it doesn’t), though once I had a stick of RAM with a melted chip!

    I think the i5 2500 is only about £30.
Thanks OP. Finally upgraded my HP Gen8's cpu from the stock Celeron.
Cheap upgrade for hp microserver gen8
I'd avoid buying with cash; you're paying x2 what you could be.

Grab some stuff that CEX overvalue and sell it to them for store credit, then buy with that.
You don't have to look far on HUKD to find discounts that'll give a profitable exchange rate.

Obviously a lot of hassle for just a cheap CPU, but half price SSD, laptop or console? Serious savings.

Ooo, now I've got a dilemma. How much faster would this be in the Gen 8 compared to the Celeron? I'm still on stock but if this is worth the upgrade.

I once swapped 4 really rubbish media streamers for a roku 3, was well chuffed!
Nice post and should be well worth the money to upgrade and old celeron chip.

Oh come now, that'd be doing all the hard work for you.
HUKD + tech deal + voted to a high temperature = possible CEX profit.

Before xmas we had the Amazon Echo Show (126% cash, or 150% credit)
Recently there was the Razer Deathstalker keyboard (150% cash, or 220% credit)

There are others, but sharing live ones is self-defeating as they're both finite supply (deal runs out) and finite demand (CEX will drop their buy price).

    Have a look see here

I still have my gen8 in the box. I keep meaning to setup it up but never get round to it. What is it your using yours as?
    Old processor, bad deal
Perfect timing! Been looking at replacing the microserver but this will breath some life back into the old girl.
I sometimes wish I had an old crap computer so that I could make use of deals like this.
Good price, but there cant be many people out there with a 1155 socket Motherboard who has a worse CPU than this and needs to upgrade?

At the moment it's simply a Windows Server 2012 R2 Plex box. I keep meaning to add more RAM for FreeNAS but I never got round to it haha.
