This is Fantastic price for this cpu

Intel's 4th gen processor codename: Haswell offers superior performance over the previous generation Ivybridge by up to 10% clock for clock. This astounding performance boost results in performance improvements in multi-tasking, encoding, gaming and multithreaded applications. Intel's 4th generation processor has improved PCI-Lane 3.0 bandwidth which helps further boost performance of latest generation 3 graphics cards for the ultimate gaming experience.
For overclocking enthusiasts, Intel's 4th gen CPU has improved memory overclocking support, with up to and beyond 3000MHz possible with the very best memory kits. Memory bandwidth is critically important to Haswell compared to previous generations. High frequency memory performance significantly improves encoding, gaming and benchmarking tasks.

The biggest leap in Intel's Haswell processor is the on-board graphics which is now up to 2.6x faster than previous HD4000 found in the Ivybridge CPU. What this means is these latest processors can actually play the latest games in HD with low/medium settings applied. Of course if you want to experience True HD gaming at maximum details then a dedicated graphics card is still a must.

It's really not worth the £250+ to upgrade from a 3570k to a 4670k, the performance increase isn't significant. This is especially true if you're getting a good over-clock on the 3570k.

Great price ENJOY MY HEAT SIR

Very hot price good find.

If I didn't already have a 3570k and a good over clock. Still at this price wonder how much I Could sell my build for

just order, heat to OP, havent built a PC for awhile, can someone recommend motherboard and ram, which includes future overclocking?

Would have gone for this if I hadn't got the i7 4770K last week. HOT

In my opinion it is not worth upgrade from good sandy/ivy but for people who are getting new rig ultra hot deal.

This is a good deal for a decent board and liquid cooler hotukdeals.com/dea…500

Great price, no real reason to spend an extra £100 on an i7 4770k IMO.

Voted Hot.

Brilliant deal, if you're thinking of a new build in the next few months jump on it, and just wait for a good price on the other bits!

many thanks for posting; I'm upgrading my system and was even pondering having to get one of the cheaper locked-multiplier Haswells, but now, no need!

You need to fix the link in this deal, it goes to a 'Bora computers' deal but the Amazon £152 price is then listed to the right.

Depends what you use the CPU for.

gambrose

Seems to have gone back up to £190 already?

click on the 58 new link under product details and it will show up as 152.94 from amazon.co.uk 2-4 weeks delivery though.

I ordered one of these just 2 days ago for £180. I'm in the process of trying to cancel that as this is a really hot deal.

You said it like in general, like most people. I have a 3770k for more than just gaming.

That didn't last long - expired.

Cant see £152 anywhere expired

Excellent value. By far the best price/performance Haswell CPU if you are going to overclock. Only reason to go for the i7 4770k is if you really need hyperthreading for running heavily parallelized applications (e.g. video editing, CAD etc).

EDIT: Damn. Expired already! Well done to those that grabbed one.

Computer types, i'm an enthusiast who put a PC together 10 years ago largely through trial and error. I like the idea of putting another one together and wonder if there is a particularly useful website to help people in my position. Also, if I wanted to get into IT to this sort of level or maybe programming where does someone in the UK start in terms of qualifications/courses ?

For example I have a Chromebook (don't laugh) and I know it is developer friendly but I wouldn't know where to start.

Thanks in advance to anyone inclined to respond, probably not the place but y'know

Well you win some and you lose some Curse you random buyers!

Wow, this WAS a good deal. Could have traded in all my games I bought on the Steam Summer sale (that I'll probably never play), and got this

was a good deal but not really cheap enough to be buying for profit

Doubt anyone's going to buy to sell, you'd be lucky to make 10% after fees & postage.

If you have money to burn donate it to a decent charity, you definitely don't need this. I know how you feel though, it's an addiction this site

Start with Java or Python programming, there's plenty of free decent courses out there. Have a look at Code Academy, Coursera, Khan Academy, there really is no reason to pay for any course to get you in to programming. I've done some Coursera courses and they're really good. I also like how Khan Academy can be used to fill in your knowledge gaps. There's more sites than I've mentioned but that's all I remember off hand.

As for how to build a pc there's tons and tons of sites, just Google it.

I've taught a few apprentices how to build a pc in a day and they have no problem doing it by themselves now, building a pc is very simple. Trouble shooting is the hard part when you don't have spare parts to swap out.
