Good price, the i5 makes this hot. The i3/6GB/500GB is more expensive than this!

£35.99 to upgrade to 8GB at crucial. Link here

tbh 4GB is quite adequate ...
1MP camera is also something which ain't common in the laptops of this price range ...

1Mpix webcam is still junk, so doesn't make much of a difference and I wouldn't point that out as superior feature.

The way you sounded made me think that I am promoting my own product ... I just posted a deal thinking that some1 out there will benefit ...
love it or hate it ... ur choice ...

Asus and Toshiba are the most reliable laptops (see link) + USB 3.0 makes this a good deal.

Would this be OK for picture editing with Lightroom?

Looks good. Toshiba is one of the few laptop brands I would consider buying (if I didnt already have an Asus).

lot of tension in this thread. its getting more heated than the actual laptop does.

Hot deal

Nope, this has USB 3, and the other one is Packard Bell (who make total rubbish)

The whole point of the i5 is that it has turbo so that you do not look … The whole point of the i5 is that it has turbo so that you do not look at the base clock speed unless you seriously want to mislead people over the relative merits of a processor. You may want to read the link you provided more carefully.Who needs 8gb ram? Everyone knows is used by marketing to fool dimwits. A 2nd generation i3 in a budget laptop, should not cost more than £350.You should also note that the lenovo G series is their budget models. If you showed me their Z series, it would be a better comparison to this Toshiba. There are plenty of things that you cannot attach numbers to.

so is this a really good deal or not?

hd3000 = weak

I had a toshiba laptop about a year ago on full blast could hardly hear any sound coming out the speakers hundreds of ppl had the same problem, everyone was complaining about it and the after sales was awfull never again.

I agree on the price assumption but you are wrong on the 8GB assertion. Have you never used VMs?

got this laptop delivered yesterday. at £10 more. decent laptop, been playing Max Payne 3 on it without any issues, not on high seeing though, but the frame rate its stable.

only issues with it, are that it does not come with backup media, and the program does not work for burning three discs. not a major issue really. comes with quite a lot of bloatware and when i removed programs i was left with out the DVD drive being recognised. don't know why, didn't spend much time trying to figure it out, as the laptop wasn't for me. i just did a system restore and left it alone.

this asus i3 is just as good for less moneys £343 if you use their 5 pounds promo code! They also have a13 pound code if you spend more then £360

Does this mean that you can play games albeit on low res on an HD3000 integrated GPU?

Any better i5 deal around? willl buy this if no-one has seen better.

That's been my general experience with the HD3000. It's not great, but it's not the complete junk earlier Intel integrated graphics were.

Of course you do. (_;)

Dell outlet instead?

Last 2 Dells I had only just outlived the 12 month cover, it is a few years ago but I don't fancy giving them another chance, never had a problem with Tosh or HP myself but they all have good and bad.

some people actually do stuff on a laptop, not just browse Facebook and watch online porn like you.

that's when 8GB comes in handy.

no.

i5 for £400 is an average deal IMO. Nothing special about this laptop I feel. Standard 1366*768 res too.

Absolutely spot-on. Some people do love Toshiba but being Toshiba owner myself from 1.5 yrs. I'll never buy them just due to speakers, although it doesn't sound like a big issue but the amount of tension it has created @ my home is awful. I'm always scolding my children to even stop breathing around me (while I am on my laptop) as I don't just hear anything ...

That's worth it IMO, don't listen to kunyk, the 8GB upgrade from 4GB alone would cost around £30, plus that model you posted has 500GB of more storage and a slightly better webcam.
