Wait for today's Ryzen 3000 reviews. There's a buzz on tech sites about Intel price cuts.

Going to need a new motherboard and RAM if you are still running Ivybridge.

Good tip. I agree ive also heard this. But no idea on how long to wait
The NDA is up at 2pm so reviews and sales go live then.
Intel will only price cut if they really need to.
Considering they have been supply constrained for ages that reduces the chances that they will, at least by much.
It also depends on the reviews for Ryzen 3000 series of course and how much stock there is.

Ohhh that doesn't sound good, why is that if you don't mind my asking? The motherboard I can understand but why RAM too? Is there a link that shows compatibility or something?

Ivybridge uses DDR3 skylake and above uses DDR4, DDR3 is incompatible with DDR4 motherboards

Not sure the exact reasons other than the fact that you should have DDR3 RAM at the moment, but latest chips and motherboards require DDR4 RAM.
If you are thinking of changing, however, you’re in luck at the moment as RAM prices have steadily come down over the past couple of months. I paid roughly £110 for 16GB in January but now the same sets can be had for roughly £60-£70 odd. Keep your eyes out, and you might be able to find a good set on sale through HUKD. Hope that helped

Gotcha, thanks. Maybe I'll stick with the 3570k a while longer if it's not a simple £200 upgrade

If you want a simple upgrade your limited to the I7 3770k
£8.70 ? Delivered in a gold Rolls Royce with a motorcade with trumpets blaring is it ?
It's Ryzen day today, I don't think intel or Nvidia prices have reached their lowest point yet.
Voted Cold, RYZEN is the future. RYZEN is backward compatible. RYZEN does not require new motherboard as you upgrade.

Ryzen 3600x (the 9600k competitor) cost £40 more than the 9600k

You might want to check that again. Some board manufacturers may require an upgrade. They won’t all be backwards compatible.

Great gaming CPU. From what early benchmarks show, this is slightly faster than the R5 3600 for around the same price so if your looking at a new gaming build this would be a good choice.
tbh id sooner take a massive performance advantage across the board (ryzen) than an un-noticeable frame or 2 in games.
And bare in mind what little some intel CPU's gain in gaming is during benchmarking on a super clean build. My PC runs allsorts of crap, crap that has a very real impact on Intel low thread count cpus

Intel is finished for now on the desktop.

3600 is cheaper, admittedly only £10 or so but that's for a retail version so has a 3 year warranty as opposed to this one's 1 year. Also need to factor in a cooler so it's not as clear cut as they ryzen has a cooler included.
The Intel is marginally better in games

Yes, good point. You will need to fork out for a decent cooler especially for overclocking.
