For those voting cold, is this cheaper somewhere else?

Its in process of being replaced by cpus with extra cores you would be a bit crazy to buy one right now. If you really need one they are £160 at cex

probably because this is non K processor, a £200 7600k OCed or Ryzen 1700 is better value, better cpu? even I5 8600K with 2 extra core at only £12 more?

I guess I'm not really up to date with current events, do you have a link about this? Cex price is second hand isn't it?

Google 8700k.

yes its 2nd hand but as there not OC cpus theres no real problem plus they give warranty with them , i have been using them for over 10years to pick up bargain pc parts uk.webuy.com/pro…700.
Info on new cpus that are slowly become availlable at moment - need new motherboards though arstechnica.co.uk/gad…te/

7700k is only £20 more atm

Seems a complete waste of time for a new build with the i5-8400 6 core being around £180 when in stock or a Ryzen even.

A used processor with a 20 quid discount? That seems like an awful proposition.

Most cpus which are non overclocked will last for many years, and cex provides a discount. £20 off a 160 price tag is not unreasonable

There is very little evidence that shows Overclocking CPUs reduces their lifespan.

The issue with a used 7700k is that it is likely a silicon lottery dud.
