Great price for an i7 quad core cpu. Even cheaper than most i5 cpus. Real beast of a processor. Great as an upgrade, but make sure to get a compatible motherboard.

- L2 Cache: 4x 256KB
- L3 Cache: 8MB
- TDP: 130W
- Core Size: 45nm

- Quad Core
- QPI: 4.8 GT/s
- Voltage: 0.8 - 1.375v

there is no point purchasing a five year old CPU. you'd get significally more performance and efficiency buying a current (or previous gen ivy bridge) i5

"Even cheaper than most i5 cpus" - Well it did come out in 2009.

good price if your upgrading an older pc, although i'd just get a an sandybridge or newer i3...

....eeeek...oh dear.

X58, blast from the past.
Bit too expensive. A Hex core at this price (970 or 990) wouldn't be a bad purchase for 920 users.
But as others have stated modern 1150 or 2011-3 systems are a much wiser investment.

I use this processor and I highly doubt its worth that much when I bought it with a motherboard, ram and psu for about £250

lol

pretty old and out of date now. like agharta posted, cex do it waaaaaaaay cheaper. and for a reason

Would this be compatible with my Turing machine or would I require something newer?

what a joke . . .

I think this chip predates the Turing chipset - This requires the Antikythera motherboard (like the one pictured below)

Just as well post some old server Xeon's and Core 2 Quads and Duo's OP in honesty these sort of chips don't have a lot value because the Motherboards are getting hard to find. The First Sandy Bridge i3's crushed this old i7 into the ground. Ivy Bridge would laugh in it's face and a Haswell system would run laps around it.

Processor dies have shrunk four times since the the chip above came out but have millions more transistors on them resulting in less heat and more raw power for less money.

Wrong category. This is a vintage stuff.

Very very bad price.
If your still on x58 and your motherboard supports xeon Cpu then just grab an X5650 6 core 12 threads you can get them for £60 delivered and they over clock to 4.2ghz as long as you have the right motherboard.

terrible deal. ancient cpu for quite a lot of money. me thinks this retailer found them stuck at the back of a shelf, and is now trying desperately to get back the money it paid for them which it wont.

Bought two camera lenses from them in September, they were sent at two different times and it took the second one 2 weeks to arrive, and when it did arrive it was the wrong item. I then emailed them about it, and it took 4 days to get a response (no phone number for customer support); I then was asked to return the item (took another 2 weeks to get my money back), and never received a refund for my return postage after emailing them a number of times.

They ship from wherever the stock is based hence why they can ship at different times for the same order.
They are slow to ship and slower to respond to emails from my experience but overall I'm happy to use them.
Had some bargain RAM off them recently and all passed MemTest on XMP settings.
Returned stuff before and they were slow but it was all sorted.
7.2 is their average score which seems appropriate to me.
