intel NUC Kit NUC5i5RYH i5-5250U UCFF Barebone PC - NUC. EDIT: Ebay stock expired but available from Encore at Amazon
The next unit of computing sounds nerdy but fear not, it's a tiny little powerful PC, just add memory, hard drive and operating system and you're good to go! - this seems very good value for an i5 base intel NUC, while this isn't the latest model it still sells for £50 to £100 more elsewhere. Barebones means it won't work until you add a hard drive (SATA SSD / drive or m2 SSD) plus DDR3L memory and an operating system of your choice.

EncorePC have been selling on ebay for over 10 years, have 4000+ positive feedback and seem legit although I've never used them.

Stock expired but same seller and price from Amazon (thanks to DaveG46 for the link)

Nice find. What's more interesting however, is that you have a housekeeper

Yes looks like a decent bargain but am slightly perplexed and my butler couldn't help either, doesn't everyone have a housekeeper?

Yeah these are great little performers that are so small, am tempted to get one to replace a Gigabyte Brix that's been in use for a couple of years.
I have two I5 NUC's that are now about 2 years old. Both have SSD's and I have replaced the housing with fanless housings made from aluminum.

Great PC's IMHO.

Decent price but not brand new and only 3 months warranty. Still decent though.

It's says they're new but yes they're only giving a 3 month guarantee, although I don't know if they actually can do that as a trading business, consumer protection still applies.
Looks like it's about on-par performance wise with the new Kaby Lake i3s which are around £280. Good deal.

I have a couple of the 4250 ones and they are great as long as you just want browsing, playing videos and office kind of stuff. I actually gamed on one of them (older games though) and it wasn't terrible
As someone who's not really dabbled in setting up pc's before would thus be tricky to set up, thinking I could use it for a bit of video films etc and then due to move it to another room for lightroom and office stuff.. Guess it would run windows 10 without any issues
Does anyone know how many usb ports there are on this as the descriptions are a bit vague?

you need 3 things:

1) Operating System (WIndows Licence? Linux Free? Anything ?) on a USB Drive/USB DVDROM
2) DDR3L type laptop memory
3) M.2 SATA and not NVME type... or 2.5 HDD/SSD/SSHD? i highly recommend m.2 sata ssd to keep inside clean and roomy for air circulation!

Rest is booting and installing OS/Drivers

Good luck...

Oooh! Looks good. Any idea how noisy these are? Also, will it play Fallout 3? That's all that matters really.

They support 64bit. They're pretty easy to setup and there are guides for installing Windows from a USB stick and etc online. They take an hour to build and install Windows then few more to install updates etc and customise.

Yes, my butler reads HUK for me, but I have to scold him whenever he buys an Android instead of an Apple. You can't get the staff these days,
Encore pic are on cash back sites too and also have this item at the same price

It certainly says it's new on ebay but comes with a 3 month warranty, I guess they're just shifting stock and I suspect that as a retailer they'd actually have to honour a fault outside of that 3 months as consumer protection is on your side. Although these things are pretty reliable anyway.
Great little home lab computers too, will happily run esxi so you can run a number of VMs on it too.
Other than storage, a low power consumption Plex server could also be a good use.
Depending on exactly what people need, there are also the Asus vivopc and vivomini with similar specs and prices:

That's a pretty decent price, ok it's an older generation i5 but still very capable of most day to day tasks. I don't know if that's the usual price but you should post it as a deal, I reckon that'll get hot.
Have been waiting for a price drop on the Skull Canyon NUC. Think I'd need that extra bit of power. But apparently all these NUCs are noisy due to tiny fan?

From what I read these particular NUC's can be a little noisy when the fan ramps up speed but people turn down the setting in the BIOS so it's no on unless it gets hot and they don't report overheating issues. However, they're not totally silent.
These are brand new items too, I think people are getting confused as the retailer has displayed their whole policy on items and talk about refurbished items.

These however are being sold as new

But for those not obsessed with 4K this is not an issue, just because you believe every consumer product that isn't 4K is worthless junk doesn't make it a fact. This PC (along with many none 4K products) will be suitable for many people, just not you, so don't buy one.

This spec isn't sufficient for 4k anyway. I have an htpc with an i5-4570T and struggles with 4k YouTube videos. Not that my tv can support it anyway, but I tested it to see if the pc can
