If they honour it then it's a great deal but I'll keep holding on as it's a cheap way into X299.

why not?

good price but the x299 it is a mess with mobos

btw: almost same performance as my old trusty i7-4790k

better skip to 8th gen

An X chip with 4c8t. Only slightly less ridiculous than the 7640x.
They make a little more sense than the i3 7350k but all are pointless nonetheless.

I wonder what Frankenstein chips they'll be bringing out next.

He said "skip to 8th gen", not "skip 8th gen". Presumably because the extra cores in the 8th Gen do give a meaningful boost in some applications. I likewise suspect that I'll be sticking with my 4.8Ghz 4790k for quite a few more years.

OcUK have the 7800k 6 core for £250 which for some is a better entry to this platform.
It should support 10nm chips when Intel finally release them as they don't seem to have messed up their high end platform as with the mainstream ones.
But even if that doesn't happen it's still the only Intel platform that scales beyond 6 cores currently.

So many people?

Intel have basically done a paper launch at this point, shambles of a launch.

uuuugghhhhhhhhhkkkk.

Like that?

I try to keep updated with tech and i did not even know this existed

do you have to be logged in to see this? as not showing for me. Expired?

Nice idea, badly executed. The lack of suported memory slots and PCIe lanes on the CPU compared to the 6-core processors in the same series is a problem.

OC Uk has the i7 8700K for 430. And out of stock. What you shown is a SOCKET LGA2066 processor. But yes, very good price for a 6 core cpu.

This deal for an i7-7740X is also an LGA2066 chip hence why I suggested the i7-7800X.

That's i7-7800X:)!!!! Not the K version, which is LGA 1151. But i got your point, and seriously considered to go for that processor, because the 1151 i7 300+, and weaker than this.

Oops. I did say it was the same platform as this though so that was the give away.

There is no 7800K, you are thinking of the 8700K I presume.

He did and that makes sense because this is 7th gen, so meh my mistake.
