If I could turn back time,
If I could find a way,
I'd buy that 8700k

tempt10 m ago

That’s expensive, I wouldn’t pay more than £50 for a mobo..

Then you certainly wouldn't be in the market for a 350 quid CPU.

Nice find

Great price! Cheapest since BT and 2 free games, but that won't come this low... Ordered

Edit - Is this retail with 3 years warranty? Doesn't say
Edited by: "Solac" 6th Dec

I bought an msi m5 z270 mb in Sept but haven't got around to buying a 7700k and was about to start the build within the next month. I wonder if it's worth selling z270 going for a z370 and this.

The only game a really play a lot is Iracing in VR and the game is very single core intensive.

Thanks for the post, been waiting on this to come back in stock (and not have to pay 400 quid for it).

I say it is worth because your system will be future proof. Even though now games still utilise single core be slowly thats being changed.

Nice it’s back to RRP. Still not biting till Ryzen refresh in Q1.

Honestly wouldn't worry about warranty, Amazon 30 day will cover you initially and then the receipt should cover you after that as purchased from a valid reputable UK seller.

The two games are worth the delta

I am sure I read that this was rushed to market to compete with AMD and you need a expensive MB to run it?

Its not an OEM version so it should have a 3yr warranty

They also have a pre-order of 3200mhz trident for £165 should you need it to go with you lovely new processor.

BT did not sell the CPU, I attempted to buy it at the price they listed and they refused to honor the price. BT Shop list a price that does not reflect reality when you actually purchase it.

A Z370 for that price would probably be a slice of toast with butter on it.
Intel wants you to shell out for chipsets at least every second CPU release. Or in this case one release.

From a Consumer perspective it’s a poor show.

That is what I read, and that is why the reviewer felt it was rushed to market, as I nearly got one, but held off as I felt I was being forced to pay extra for a bespoke MB

I would buy this but am not buying a new mobo for it with no upgrade path

Who actually pretends you would ugprade the 8700k within a year or two?

Intel has supported 2+ generations of CPUs on the same motherboard for almost 10 years now
Edited by: "cascadde" 6th Dec

Gaming king

Just like the 6600k you had, where you posted about maybe upgrading to the 7600k... You have an option, and Intel has done this for ages.

2 Generations per socket. This is just an artificial complaint to not buy a great CPU. (If you are on a budget, the 8400 is quite possibly the best deal since the G4560 or the 2500k).

Even AMD has done similar socket upgrades, but apparently saying they will support the AM4 till 2020 makes people not realize that it has done shady shit with sockets before, where you 'can technically use the old socket, but only people who don't like features/overclocking would do it'.

Been waiting for this to drop near this price so I could use the amazon gift vouchers I got from BT for switching to their family mobile SIM plan, have some heat sir!

Same. Big advantage of Intel over AMD Ryzen is the gfx core.
A Ryzen with built in gfx core should do well since the Ryzen boards already have all the video outputs.
They already have the laptop versions.

Does this have Assassins Creed Origins and Total Warhammer II with it? I see some websites that sais it does but scan and ocuk don't mention it. [edit] perhaps those websites have confused the 8700k with the 6700k?

Thanks for the responce I guess I will go back to considering the 8600k \ a cheaper build with a shorter upgrade cycle some more.

You still wouldn't look as good as Cher did in that video though. I remember being in a pub in Walthamstow with Paul Di'Anno and he was spouting his usual bull crap and that video came on, I managed to ignore the crap he was saying for about 3 minutes, it was great and beer was £1.30 a pint then, get in!

Got mine to 5.1ghz @ 1.39v, but it does 5 at 1.32 - sticking with 5.1 for now, might delid and go for 5.2-5.3 the overclocker in me is gagging for it.

Motherboard choice seems important with Z370 a lot of the mid range ones had bad reviews. VRM cooling etc.

Kraken x61 for me, loving my vanilla 8700 from an 4790k, much snappier in Lightroom.

Hope they have stock before Xmas.
