Don't forget there's usually a minimum spend requirement of £20 ex VAT for the various free shipping offerings.

300w in a server, good luck with that.

how do we get the free shipping (other than the free shipping for life that some hukd's got)?

Just ordered mine ... but got no acknowledgment email as yet :-(

I've placed a few orders varying in price from £5 - £15, and have still got my free shipping. Mine is the "i29" free delivery for life offer.

True...but my one order every 4mths or so probably won't break them!

When they gave everyone and his dog free deliveries from the i29, they specifically said that orders need to be over £20 in a follow-up email.

But this email was possibly only sent to those that applied but didn't go to the actual i29 event.

I've just checked and it is mentioned in the email:

Nevertheless, in all fairness we will need to monitor orders placed and in any cases where repeat orders come through of less than £20 we reserve the right to review your entitlement to free carriage to our discretion. So when it says "optional" hot swap PSU and scsi drives, does that mean it doesn't come with the backplane and caddy's "as is" ?

The title on Scan indicates a 300psu but the 'tech spec' on the scan site has a red cross against the psu ... does it come with a psu or not?

Perfect just what I was after for my 'Server under a tenner' project. Cheers.

orderd 2 to justify the shipping costs .

gonna give the other 1 away

Been on here before at a similar price hotukdeals.com/for…ase

Its good i guess if you need a dated server case, but not really the bargain it might at first appear

Thanks emu!

This deal is a great example of how people, though not all, become "bargain-blind"; whereby low-prices lead to tunnel vision and the actual suitability/functionality/quality of the item becomes the last consideration. Anyways good-luck to all who purchase with a clear understanding of this chassis and to those who don't I say "yah boo sucks".

I actually already have this exact same chassis, but its RM branded, so for under a tenner I get the exact same case and spare PSU for it Couldn't be happier. Also bundled it with a "Jou-Jye Black SNT-3141 4 Bay SATA Hot Swap Rack fits into 3x5.25" Bays"

So now my 5 SCSI drives and 4 Sata drives will have nice cosey homes hehe

If it's any help, I bought this case and it's a bit of a white elephant. The one I had came with a 350w PSU and the full hot-swap back plane for the 5 disk caddy. You can remove the back plane and just fit your 3.5" SATA HDDs in the caddy.

The snags are:

1. The PSU may not be compatible with an ordinary modern motherboard. (I don't know because I have never got it running because of problem 2 below.) Also, one chap complained that the PSU switches itself off after a few seconds.

2. There is a proprietary front panel connector for connecting the on/off switch, reset switch and the LEDs to an intel server motherboard. There's no easy way to connect this to an ordinary motherboard. So, you can't use the case switches to turn the computer on/off or do a reset.

It's a bit of fun for a tenner, but probably not worth anything.

Just to support this guys comments, unless you're a wiz at modding cables or have an old server motherboard with this connection, I wouldn't bother with this case. I only got one because I've already got this exact same case and fancied a spare :w00t:

My motherboard is the STL2 (dual P3 board) and it works fine with this case.

Whooo voted hot my friend

Has anyone got the rackmount rails in the box?
Because I haven't.
Are they an optional accessory?

Damn. A day late...
I'd have got the free shipping too. Plus it would have been perfect for my Intel board.

is this a wine cooler?

is this a wine cooler?

Could be... with a bit of modding! :-D

(only joking - it's a computer case ;-) )

Was only a one-day deal though, unfortunately.

Does this work with a standard adaptec PCI scsi controller? When I looked at it before it seemed that the backplane might need a special extra interface?

Also, if you've got 2 minutes and a pair of pliars and some electrical tape, you can change the Intrusion detection system into a power switch, which will give you basic functionality.

I havent worked out wether the Psu works with standard ATX mobo's yet, but i dont think it will. however, i think this case was a real bargain, as a home server case. Thanks.
