Similar to a deal I posted yesterday, (i5 version). This is a lot more money for the spec, but looking at it from paper & reviews, it has really good performance & battery life.

Metal unibody too. This would be well over 1K for a similar product from Apple.

It's just a shame Intel didn't use an AMD CPU for this (edited)

£700 for a 2 generation old CPU, no discrete GPU and only 16gb memory seems like poor value in my opinion.

Granted it's a premium build, but still seems a bit expensive.

    This.

A touch screen would hardly ever be used on a laptop like this so it's just a gimmick. It doesn't even state the screen resolution so it could be (and probably is) low res and probably not colour accurate

    This deal stinks

It seems expensive to me for what it is.

Premium aluminium body, excellent battery life, touch screen, decent amount of memory and storage, two year warranty, seems good for the price.
Or are you implying that because it is not for gaming it should be cheap and low quality?

Doesn't look like a NUC to me. Looks like a laptop.

It's the Bishops County NUC Laptop here: ark.intel.com/con…tml

They are primarily sold to system integrators to resell with their own branding applied, so go under the NUC line.
They can buy them either without storage and OS or fully configured. In this instances Laptops Direct are just selling a fully configured model with the original branding left in place. (edited)

Did you see the Amazon reviews for this?  It might have OLED but it seems to be a very poor laptop.

For those that don't think it's a good deal, link something that ticks all the same boxes for a better price please. I'm interested in a laptop like this.

    Specs
    Aluminium chassis
    Touch screen
    Etc.

    Surface Laptop.
I bought a brand new Gen 4 for £480 the other day, i7-1185G7, 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD from Cash Converters.

But otherwise at this price, Dell XPS or HP Elitebook/Envy, even ASUS Zenbooks. This seems far too much money for what’s effectively a generic ultrabook with an older Gen CPU.

Am I doing it right? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Indeed. I'd be all over this if I could insert some RAM, 16GB is not enough for me

Not being a gamer or a geek with respect, seriously, all I see is i7, 16 GB and 1 TB, and to somebody like me, who is still using a dell i3531 with 4 GB, running Windows 10, and a dell dimension 3100 running a non genuine version of Windows 7 Ultimate so I'm told (it's been in storage for the last 7 years) this deal sounds like it would be a jump for me, from Reliant Robin to Campbell Bluebird

Am I right that a Ryzen 7 with similar specs would be better for gaming?
    plewis00's avatar
    plewis00
Probably, yes, if you’re using integrated graphics only but neither will be much cop. Even an nVidia MX450 or similar will be better. Unless very simple games don’t waste your time.

Looks a really nice machine, just a shame it’s only 1080p. 1440p or better would have been awesome. Still, decent specs otherwise for the money.
