Here we have 4-core budget i3. I know AMD is mopping at the moment, but this fella gets good scores when it comes to gaming and desktop performance versus ryzen 5 2600: cpu.userbenchmark.com/Com…955
It is sold by 3rd party CPU-world who have 97% positive feedback score. Also based in UK, Manchester
No overclocking, but very solid general performance, and despite not being described as future proof-should be great for a general home-computing/casual gaming (your choice of GPU will determine the experience here as this CPU doesn't have build in graphics).

Good price, these cpus are pretty quick used them and for 65 there a good buy but also if I could afford a 2600 id get it over this
This is more decent as a office pc cpu than a gaming PC cpu. I'd argue the bare minimum for gaming should be a six core if you want anything slightly future proof and the ryzen 1600AF is right there at £79

I agree, ish - hence I mentioned casual gaming, I would not have this nor 1600AF or indeed in a high spec gaming rig at all. It seems the bare minimum of cores in gaming is a marketing phrase directed at enthusiasts with some bob to spend. This is budget friendly cpu that will do all public favorites like pubg and fortnite / minecraft and browsing and ms office. But yeah no frills and will get old sooner than ryzens

A 1600AF will have no issues with any of the latest games and will pair nicely with something like a 5700 XT.

If all you want is a cheap office PC I would probably pay the extra £13 for a 3200G which comes with an integrated GPU.
Pentium Core i3... lol. Seller can't even get the name right.
It's not a bad price tbh but with 1600AF only being around £10 more. I wouldn't buy this.

Bringing the cost down-last person with adequate mix of English and tech knowledge had to go to cut the company's wages bill and therefore to increase the shareholder value...keep on policing them deals

If youve got an intel board then its tough luck really!

Sorry but I think your mobo won't take coffelake cpu - 9th gen like this one.
userbenchmark is the worst benchmarking site in existence, they changed their score system to disproportionately benefit intel and claimed it reflects real world speed more because apparently we still live in 2012 where nothings multi threaded...

at this price theres really no reason not to just grab a 1600af for around 20 more and have a much better pc all around. (unless your not using a dedicated gpu in which case 3200g would be the better option)

Link for that 1600af @ 85? I was using i5 4570 before this and it was coping well, this seems handling win 10 bit better and I can play the likes of civ5 and xcom without hiccups(in fairness my i5 was paired with 8gb ddr and old 7770gpu,so that's another story) For my usage pattern this was cheapest proposition that performs well. Yes I could spend 100 more and get ryzen 3 series.... Or spend 500 more and get something more capable, but horses for courses . 1600af is great deal for someone i3 is good for someone else...happy to have them competing for our money.

gone up slightly to 88.17 but im pretty sure this is the af, doesn't clearly say af but it has the 3.6ghz boost clock.

honestly at this price especially for budget users its a no brainer to spend a bit extra for a much much more futureproof cpu for longer term saving even just the normal 1600, still will have an upgrade path to a cheap used cpu aswell.

I prefer intel personally
I'll just leave this here...
