Good drives for entry into the SSD market.

For reviews, you can read about the Kingston drives, which are the Intel drives rebranded, in this review anandtech.com/sto…p=4

These will also have TRIM enabled, for those that know what it means.

Product has been removed from site now.

edit: Back at a higher price of £89.34

Transfer rates are Read 170MB/s and Write 35MB/s.

Decent price, so heat added. Similar price at LambdaTek.

If going the SSD route though you'd be better off getting a GSkill Falcon or a OCZ Vertex which have faster transfer rates. You will really notice the difference. I have a GSkill.

PS Looks like cheapest delivery is £2.57.

While this might be a good price for this particular model, it's not a very good model of SSD.

Even low-end SSDs like the Kingston SSDNows will outperform this considerably... And a quick Google Products search shows those cost £88.

If you're considering this sort of money on fast storage, don't forget the 10krpm 150gig WD Veleciraptor is only £120-odd. If you're looking for a good SSD, wait. I'd put good money on you getting a much better product for much better money 6-12 months down the line.

Free delivery on orders over 50 pounds. It is acknowledged at checkout. Lamdatek charge for delivery making the worse by quite a bit.

As for the drive. It is in a lot of ways better than indilinx drives. Read the kingston 40gb review above which is the same drive without TRIM. It isn't as good as the more expensive drives on sustained read and write, but is up with the best for random read and write.

Those 100 read 80 write drives are much worse. They should not be bought at all.

The Kingston v+ range which is more expensive falls into the lower end indilinx category.

Kingston 40gb, 80gb, 160gb drives are the equivalent intel drives witu kingston's name on them.

Thats more expensive and not the the X25-M.

The Aria deal is hot though. But if you can't get that, this will still be the best price.

Novatech must have made a mistake when I checked that price. I remember clearly that it was the X25-M for that price... I cant believe that I didnt buy it .:-(:-(
