I saw that the other day....but only they have a price up so far. I'd rather wait until mainstream places have prices up. Good rough information tho and thanks for the chart

glad I havent bought a i7 950 & motherboard yet, if this the price of the i5 one and it looks like it has better performance.

I did buy triple memory ram though in preparation in getting an i7 950 & a 1366 motherboard. This ram here:

Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600) £65 from here a month or 2 ago

Can I get one more of the stick of the above ram and than use it as dual memory, I heard the Sandybridges take dual memory. If I can anybody know where I can purchase a single stick if I do decide to go the SB route?

I don’t think Corsair sell single sticks which would mean trying eBay as you sometimes see people selling single sticks from triple channel kits.
Or you might be better of selling the 6GB kit and buying an 8GB kit of 2x 4GB.

Looking forward to these coming out, any word on motherboard pricing/availability yet? Seem to remember back when 1156 came out there where good deals to be had.

Yeah, I remember that as I managed to grab one from OcUK. It was an MSI board so I ended up selling it unused and buying a Gigabyte.
The boards tend to be expensive when they first come out more so than the CPUs but there may be some price gouging with the CPUs; it depends on stock levels I suppose.

I remember when Core 2 Duo was released the cheapest full flavour chip with 4MB cache was about £230. That was 2.4GHz dual core so at the same price point today will be the i7-2600K which is 3.4/3.8 GHz quad core with HT. That was four and a half years ago though.

I reckon about £155 - £160 on launch. The i7-2600K doesn't look worth the extra 50% in cost.

It seems as if you can't over-clock using the H67 chipset which seems crazy! I want an mATX board, use the integrated graphics and over-clock as these things are hitting 4.5GHz on air easily seemingly and with low power consumption.
Looks like I’m screwed.

Seems a good price, I'll be upgrading in April, hopefully they'll have settled even lower by then :). Can't wait for the Hexus review!

Sparta man, what makes this SandyBridge made of sand so special? Just a better processor?

Yes I think so. Do you have enough memory slots?

The boards will only support 4 RAM slots AFAIK.
