Good film and well worth buying at just £2.99

Freshly graduated from college with a promising future ahead, 22-year-old Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch) instead walked out on his privileged life and into the wild in search of adventure. What happened to him on the way transformed this young wanderer into an emerging symbol for countless people. Was Christopher a heroic adventurer or a naive idealist, a rebelious 1990's Thoreau or another lost American son, a fearless risk-taker or a tragic figure who wrestled with the precious balance between man and nature?

McCandless' quest took him from the wheat fields of South Dakota to a renegade trip down the Colorado River to the non-conformists' refuge of Slab City, California, and beyond. Along the way, he encountered a series of colorful characters at the very edges of American society who shaped his understanding of life and whose lives he, in turn, changed. In the end, he tested himself by heading alone into the wilds of the great North, where everything he had seen and learned and felt came to a head in ways he never could have expected.

Adapted by Jon Krakauer's acclaimed bestseller Into The Wild.

Thanks, just ordered been wanting to see this for awhile. I love the soundtracks Eddie Vedder did for it.

Does anyone know how to contact Play.com by email? Or how to redeem a voucher. I cannot find the "I have a voucher" in checkout.

After you have confirmed your delivery address, on the next screen there is a box on the right entitled voucher with two buttons...one for gift and one for promotional vouchers.

Nice one.

Superb film, superb book, superb soundtrack - worth 22.99 never mind 2.99

Sanctimonious nonsense. Good soundtrack by Ved though.

I could swear that I looked there before and there was no button! Anyway, now there is, so thanks for the pointer, and thanks to Lupeto too

This is a very, very special movie.

Just not convinced it bears repeated viewing...

I didn't realise sanctimony and verisimilitude were mutually exclusive. I would ask you to consider the effect of this guy's decisions upon his family. Where you see liberated free spirit, I see selfish, psuedo-spiritual claptrap spouting prick. This is not a generalisation of spirituality / rejection of capitalism etc., but in this particular instance the guy's journey is absolutely not worth celebrating.

Because he had other things in mind than his parents ideal? ok

^ a film that folk talk about is no bad thing ^

I remember someone wrote a review and said something like 'Sean Penn made an idiot look like a god figure' and I kinda agree lol. Stunning film about an idiot imho. I remember thinking that the Grizzly Man (Timothy Treadwell) would be lucky to get the same treatment as his documentary made him look crazy lol!

Voted Hot!

..... er, based on a true story is what I think you mean, the ending in particular is not what really happened but I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it.

Good movie though - and none the worse for being "faction".

Great film, hot

not seen the film yet, but in the book McCandless was a bit of a selfish tool..... I love John Krakauers books, he is one of my favourite authors, anyone who likes a good real life story should read into thin air.... brilliant

The guy was a moron. However, it makes for a good story.
